Got lawn mower gas Saturday ...

really??!!??
don't understand why it's $1.99 here and $2.67 only 3 hours south of me.
that doesn't seem right.

Yeah. Cheapest I've gotten gas in awhile was in Kentucky on my way to Nashville... got it for $2.11 last Sunday.

As for why, gas stations LITERALLY have us over a barrel. We need fuel as we've largely gutted public transportation in all but the largest cities of America. Whatever they price it at, we'll be buying.

Not that low here. I just bought diesel last night at $2.69, at the cheapest station around, and regular unleaded was sitting at $2.89.

Carter was 100% right in 1979. Showed incredible foresight, wisdom, and leadership.

As a result, he got booted, he remains an incredibly underappreciated president, and we got 8 years of the worst and most destructive president of the 20th-century, who is still revered by idealogues who don't know better.

Voters are idiots.

Before this thread gets locked I just thought I should quote this for being spot on. :embarrassed:

The Saudi's are trying to force US companies from shale fracking operations, but it hasn't worked. The Saudi's are willing to lose big bucks to win so we'll see how long they hold out and keep their production running high.

I'm surrounded by mighty glass towers of petroleum companies that have been laying off people by the thousands. I'm glad my evil megacorp doesn't dabble in the oil industry much any more.

Just ran to the bank... $2.39, so it's come down a little since last night.
went past a station at lunch.
$1.84

i'm sorry for those who are loosing their jobs over the gas war.
i am NOT sorry that my bank account is taking a much smaller hit.

I was 16 watching this speech with my dad and remember how poor we were and how difficult it was to find and keep work. Living in America at that time was the most depressing thing on the planet and I will never forget it. That was a hell of a speech and I just watched it, again, in it's entirety. Carter accomplished much more as a ex-present because the country had zero faith in this man at the time he made this speech. My grandparents who were in there 80's at the time could not remember a weaker president. People may hate Ronald Reagan, but I went from being poor to making very good money as soon as he stepped in office and I was still in highschool. It was crazy, like someone had to simply cut the lights on. I'm sure it was different for different parts of the country, but this area got better. A lot better with Reagan.

That says a lot, because Reagan is currently far too moderate to be fit his party and still far too the right to fit the opposition. He was a terrible President and his short-sighted economic "victories" caused a lot more damage to the day-to-day American than any benefits they may have received. If you think Reagan actually made a difference in your earning power overnight, you're looking back with some rose-colored glasses.

Yup. Blind optimism and short-term gains are vastly overrated. And overnight successes in the months following an election and inauguration... That says more about the outgoing president than the incoming. It's like blaming 9/11 on Bush, or blaming the recession on Obama.

Not to mention the reality that Reagan's foreign diplomacy was big picture disastrous.

Which gives brash idiots like Cruz and Trump the idea that swinging your military dick around is acceptable and preferable to diplomacy. Let's not use our words!
