Jimmy Wallace, founder of the Dallas International Guitar Festival is not just a dealer, he's a player. His first taste of success was on the high-school band compilation A New Hi, an album that enjoys collectible status these days because it also marks the first recording for Wallace and his friend and fellow Oak Cliff native Stevie Ray Vaughan. After high school, Wallace and his band Lynx made quite a name for itself touring in the '70s with some of the hottest acts of the day, such as Styx and Kansas. Wallace joined Bugs Henderson & the Stratoblasters in the '80s. Along the way he has also performed with such legends as Todd Rundgren, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Cars, Phil Keaggy, Stephen Stills, Johnny Winter, Willie Nelson, Albert King, Gregg Allman, James Burton, and many more.

In 1980 guitar dealer Jimmy Wallace from Oak Cliff, Texas headed out in search for the Holy Grail with his prized 1959 Gibson Les Paul in tow and an ES-335. At the time Gibson was moving production to Nashville, which allowed a few dealers such as Leo's of California, Guitar Trader of New Jersey, and Jimmy Wallace the opportunity to place orders at the old Kalamazoo plant for Les Paul guitars with "vintage correct" appointments. These dealers and their customers were looking for features such as the perfect top carve and neck shape as well as a number of other small details. A Gibson designer used Wallace's guitars as templates for a new model, and honored him with the Jimmy Wallace Les Paul and the Jimmy Wallace ES-335. These guitars that were built in the 80's and early 90's are now known as the pre-Historics or the first Reissues. They are highly valued and considered a quality investment. The Jimmy Wallace Les Paul is one of the most sought after guitars in the collectors market and Jimmy Wallace himself is a legend.

Jimmy has decided to let go of a few of his prized guitars and we at Route 66 Classic Guitars are honored to be able to offer these guitars to you now...especially this one. This guitar is the most prized guitar in Jimmy's vast collection. This is the Jimmy Wallace Les Paul prototype, the first one, the father of all subsequent Jimmy Wallace guitars. This is the guitar that made Jimmy famous. It is also pictured 3rd from the left in his logo. This guitar has been in Jimmy's personal collection since it was presented to him by Gibson in 1980. If you have ever been to the Dallas International Guitar Show, then you have seen this guitar on display in Jimmy's booth with a sign on it that says "NOT FOR SALE PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH." Well folks, here's your chance to touch it, play it and even own it!

This guitar was built in Kalamazoo Michigan at Jimmy's request following a close inspection of his original 1958 Burst which he personally delivered to Gibson Kalamazoo for inspection. The inked on serial number on the back of the headstock is 8 1090. There is another serial number in the control cavity and it is 801080. The pot codes on 2 of the pots are 13779xx and on the other 2, 13780xx, indicating that 2 of them are from 1980 and the other 2 leftover from 1979, which would mean that this guitar would have been built in very early 1980. The finish is a custom color of "Jimmy Wallace Burst" and the Maple top is INSANE! It was HANDPICKED by Jimmy himself and it's really beautiful! The pickups used in this guitar are the original Gibson "Patent Applied For" humbuckers, wound by Tim Shaw and ink stamped March 1979. This guitar weighs 9 lbs. 6 oz. and the thickness of the neck measures .900 at the first fret and .990 at the 12th. It looks great, feels great and sounds great

Here is a legendary Les Paul, owned by a legend in the Les Paul community. This is so rare to find a guitar of this caliber for sale. Whether you are a player or collector, this guitar would be the crown jewel to any collection! This guitar is 100% original and comes complete with a signed letter of authentication from Jimmy Wallace and the original hardshell case.

It is a pretty guitar, for sure, but I wouldn't pay a premium for the Jimmy Wallace association.

Definitely a hot looking LP, but it's nowhere near my price range, so I can only drool, and get my keyboard wet.

Not big on quilted/flamey tops. Looks good though not $15000 good but good. Definitely a collectors guitar.
