The first time I saw Pink Floyd was 1970 at Irvine Auditorium on U of P campus. I was in 10th grade and told my parents I was sleeping over a friends house so I could stay out late. Pink Floyd was promoting Meddle.
Saw them 11 november 1970 at the Concert Hall in Gothenburg. There was a rumour saying that they were highly technical, and it should be a 4-channel system surrounding the whole venue. And it was actually 4 speakers put up against the four walls, and the keyboardist had a pin that he used to steer the sound around. Impressing at that time. And it was a very good concert overall, but it ended seriously great with ”Set the Controls”, the lights went out, Gilmore sat on the floor with his roaring Strat, everything on 11 and a Binson echo, for 20 minutes. People who had been smoking weed almost collapsed.
Also saw Waters’s In the Flesh and Us + Them tours, which were a hell of a lot better, IMHO. Also saw The Wall tour a couple of years back, with my youngest brother-in-law, who’s a big Floyd fan. But I fucking hate The Wall, so...
