Favorite Dead Album

Back in the day, we used Live Dead to do our joint rolling and would put Dark Star on the stacking record player when getting intimate with our g/f.

You guys shared the same girlfriend?

That Touch of Grey song was pretty good.
I always found it funny that so many die-hard fans felt that the Dead sold out on that song. It just came out at the right time and the video helped, but it wasn't any more commercial than a lot of American Beauty and Workingman's Dead.

That's my go to when people ask if I like the Dead. It seems to send a good portion of them into a tailspin. I like some of there stuff, but I'm not a huge fan. I liked that tune.

I never got the "sold out" thing. At the end of the day it's a business and how they earn a living. I don't understand why people who supposedly love a band want them to stay small, be broke, and have to tour in a crappy van "to be true to their music." They should have to try the sit for awhile. After meeting a number of bands in that position you realize it's a very tough way to earn a living.

My question to people who said they sold out with that tune, is how does a band who was selling out multiple nights stadium shows sell out? They were at already one of the most successful band of all time when that record came out.

Probably because they made a fucking music video. I like the song and the video, but it is a bit slick by dead standards I guess. How soon they forget Shakedown Street.

I want to do an emoji of lovey eyes, but since I can't, I'll just say hell yeah!
That is how I backed in to being a Grateful Dead fan. I bought a Garcia/Grisman CD of old-time music and loved it and then found Reckoning. From there I went back to other material and was hooked.

Makes sense. You listen to any Railroad Earth?
