Essential life skills for dudes?

Lots of good suggestions so far. The economic stuff is super important. Also the basic things like maintaining shoes, tying a tie, basic hygiene, tooth care, shaving etc. Altho nobody taught me how to shave, I just kinda figured that one out on my own. I still havnt learned the extra silverware protocol, lol.
A few I can think of:
Basic common sense mens dress, like how to dress properly for the occasion, what colors and styles are accepted as "normal", proper fit. etc.
As for the more outdoorsy stuff:
how to sharpen a knife and basic safety with same.
How to clean a fish and cook it.
Come to think of it, basic fishing techniques and strategies.
How to start a wood fire and basic fire safety.
My old man taught me proper firearm safety and maintenance, but thats prob not feasible this day and age.

Good one. Make sure that they know the different between casual, business casual, semi-formal, and formal. A lot of young guys would show up for a semi-formal event in khakis and a polo shirt.

Teach your kids that if they ever find themselves within arm’s length of a truly evil person like Vladimir Putin or Kim Jong-un or Kenny G or Ed Sheeran, they need to man up and take one for the team and do what has to be done instead of being a coward and asking them for a selfie.

Not sure this is in your remit but basic budgeting and finances.

My son's opinion coming out of "normal" school is that they never gave him any guidance on things like bank accounts, tax and national insurance, mortgages, loans, direct debits, etc so it has had to be covered at home. If your students don't have that input...

I cover all of that stuff in my formal teaching with the seniors but maybe more tangible tasks like ordering online (dude pizza day?), getting cash from the ATM etc... Would be useful.

Trouble shooting. Remote not working? Change batteries?
Something not powering on? Is it plugged in?
Basic troubleshooting will go a long way.
Try to think of everyday things you experience and how you go about troubleshooting them. I feel like we fail our kids on the most simple things that we take for granted.

Excellent idea.

Conversing with strangers was my diplomatic way of saying don't be a dick when talking to girls.

I can bet you that the main prospective mates probably won’t be strangers.

My language is also, until your own, gender neutral and queer-friendly.

I’m glad that you have us to help you develop your life skills.

also if they go to america teach them to withdraw enough cash before going to the weed store because if they have to use the ATM at the weed store there is a 3 dollar surcharge from the machine

as simple as it may sound.....how to sew a button back on your shirt.
yep absolutely....sewing is a great skil to have. In all seriousness i still want to get a basic sewing machine and teach myself. I can half ass sew a button butthe hardest part is threading the needle but i did find a youtube awhile back (gotta go find it again) where the guy basically laid the string in his hand in a shape like a fishhook/letter J and then rolled the needle over it (i think he might've wetted the thread first) and it magically threaded itself. i tried it at the time and was susccesfull on the second try.

This along with how to file your taxes. For most young folks who don't have a mortgage, this is quite simple and can usually be done with the 1040EZ form, but for some reason it's often viewed as a daunting task.

Speaking of essential life skills for dudes, I've been meaning to ask.
How did that electric nose hair trimmer work out for you? I bought one this past summer, and my nostrils have never been more groomed. Way better than the eyelash clippers I was using. I'm probably breathing in more dust, but they are looking tight.
Also, I'm not sure how the boogers feel about me chopping down their forrest. I think they are now homeless. I'm going to buy them an old boogar motorhome and let them stay in the parking lot at Target.
