I'm not sure about the Edwards version, but the real deal JP guitars actually have a pretty slimmed-down neck. His #2 is a '59 that he shaved the neck on.doesn't it have a different neck? I thought the JP had a beefier one, but I could be wrong.

Is it still easy to get Japanese Edwards over here?
They turn up on eBay all the time. And Guitar Japan will ship to the USA/Europe/Oz: http://www.guitarjapan.com/edwards/lineup.html
Just so you know, that's this guitar relic'd.

Same story for meThat's pretty fuckin cool right there.
I used to have an Edwards LP, and it was great. Couldn't get along with the neck, but that's the story of my life.

this is the exact Edwards that I've lusted after for years... As much as I like my SC245 goldtop, I still want one of these. I have a problem.June 2007.

Thanks for the neck chart... Pretty much confirms what I felt last time re: the 60's shape. I prefer the 50's, so it was a bit thin for me. Love the look of them though, and mine sounded great too. I was also impressed by the quality. It's a great guitar. When I got it, I did a bunch of comparisons between it and my Gibson Les Paul.
The overall fit and finish of the Edwards was better (but I did buy my Gibson when it was almost 10 years old, so who knows what it looked like from the factory). The neck dimensions were pretty much identical. I even made a chart. The two sound completely different, but my Gibson has 490/498 pickups while the Edwards has Duncan P90s. Gibson has Grover tuners, Edwards has Klusion. My Gibson weighs a lot more then the Edwards.
The one flaw I found with the Edwards was there was a spot between the end of the fretboard and the neck pickup that the finish was flawed (there's about a 1/8" gap between them where there's no gold paint). Other than that, it was perfect.
