When you're watching TV, a movie or video and see a person playing a guitar that isn't plugged in, are you the person who has to call out to everyone in the room...

"WTF? That's not event plugged in!!!!"

I did watch My Cousin Vinny with a lawyer. I was like, "Why can't this motherfucker shut the hell up and chill?"

Yep, it does. It also annoys me when I see a band and the singer is supposedly playing guitar but you can't hear it in the mix at all.

Yes. You're describing nearly every promotional and "performance" video throughout the 60s, 70s, and deep into the 80s, especially early 70s variety shows. It's crazy-making.

I always found this one heartbreaking. Jesus, just put five minutes of extra effort in.

I was triggered before I even opened the thread.

I too watched Top of the Pops in the 1980s.

Who was it that purposely goofed off and made it obvious they weren't playing while performing on a show in the 60s or 70s?

Hall and Oats but there's more than a few bands who've make it clear they were lipsyncing and going through the motions of playing
