Does anyone use eBay anymore to buy and sell guitars?

Fees kinda suck but it is the best way that I know of to get a guitar in front of the biggest audience possible. I try to keep craigslist creeps out of my house so I only like to sell stuff there if I can meet them somewhere. Most folks on craigslist want to play it first. Plus, the responses from cl are really spotty.

This. Really, even with the fees and some of the hassle, it still usually nets the most the quickest from my experience.

I might buy through ebay. But I try to avoid selling through them. Too damn expensive.

That's my practice as well. It is still a decent marketplace for a shopper but a terrible place to sell. It is so geared to buyers and very poor situation for sellers.

I've got a bass and a guitar on it right now.

It's all about the market. The market isn't so great anymore though. I have specialty stuff that won't sell on CL or Reverb for a decent price, my market there is just too small. Ebay fees are insane these days. They find a way to screw the seller left and right. It's a necessary evil though.

Ebay isn't like I used to be, with tons of cool stuff on it anymore. Mostly crap at an inflated price. You have to be ontop of new BIN stuff to ever win.

As for CL, I tend to insist public places. I don't really want to go to a guys house, or have them in mine. I've even had experiences where dude is like "No way, I gotta test it!", so I put a video on YT of me turning it on, plugging it it, going through all the settings, etc, and get a "No deal man, I gotta test it. You could have that plugged into something else".

I used to sell pretty regularly on eBay. Shipping has gotten very expensive - so I switched to using US Postal about a year ago. Did not have much trouble up until last fall. The last three guitar shipments had shipping problems. Now I did insure them - but for practical purposes, it does not help. You have to have the receiver hold onto the goods until the claim is completed. I ended up doing a partial refund or working something out with the buyers. Just because of these bad expereiences I really think twice before selling on eBay. The shipping issue is a killer.
