Love it or hate it, the internal combustion engine has earned a special place in the hallowed halls of Americana. The golden age of the automobile brought new freedom of movement, and left behind a massive carbon skidmark, along with a nearly endless trail of discarded license plates. The latter of these legacies, reworked into pickguards, become the main visual feature of the Road Dog guitars and basses. In addition to a splash of color, these plates can add a very literal sense of time and place, offering ample opportunity for personal customization.

Who was the builder that used an album for a pickguard? He made cool guitars for a good price. I think someone here bought one.

It looks like you'd cut your arm on the license place. I guess good art is worth bleeding for.

Maybe if I had some kind of sentimental attachment to the license plate (like it was off of my first car or something)....but since I don't...

No.

In the world of boutique guitars, I don't think the price is that bad at all (considering it was a player and all that).

So true. There was a time I would have thought that price outrageous (and still do to an extent), but after seeing so many $5-6000 boutique guitars this seemed a downright bargain.

That would be a concern for me, but other than that I like it. I'd choose a different license plate, though. I wouldn't want anyone to think I'm from Alabama. Yeah, I went there. Not to Alabama. I wouldn't go to Alabama.
