My favorite is prosciutto,fresh mozzarella,marinated roasted red peppers, basil,black pepper and few drops of balsamic vinegar.
I made that one day at the Italian deli I worked at 40 years ago.
It's been my favorite ever since.

No old school BLT for me anymore.

My "remastered" version requires 1/2 lb. of crispy bacon served on the side of heavily buttered toast, slathered in mayonnaise, covered with chopped lettuce and tomato (to facilitate ease of consumption), all salted and covered with copious amounts of freshly ground pepper and drizzled with hot bacon fat.
