Daddy’s Junky Music Closes All Locations

I used to try to shop at the Daddy's Junky near my office when I lived in CT. They were pretty much always overpriced, and didn't negotiate well - I'm kinda surprised this didn't happen earlier.

That having been said, I still hate to see it happen.

I used to shop at the Nashua NH store all the time.I bought a bunch of stuff from them in the 1980's. They had OK prices, but you could get good trade in prices and they negotiated reasonably well. Last time I was in that store, maybe 7-8 years ago, they didn't have much stock that looked interesting (lots of ultra low end imports) and most of the new stuff looked pretty abused.

I have shopped there a few times; I was just on their website yesterday. Sorry to hear it as they did have some good deals on used stuff.

I'm sorry to hear it, as I had a $30 credit there!

They'd been going downhill in selection and service even prior to GC moving in. Clearly they'd made some bad business decisions. I feel like if they'd continued to concentrate on used equipment and made a real online presence, they could have kept it going. Bummer.

So, they had quite an inventory of new and used stuff. I wonder what will happen to it? There was a used Art and Lutherie 12-string I had my eye on there.

I bought my first Real Book from their website back in 2000, and now look what happened to me!

I read about this a couple days ago. The Nashua store is a 20 minute drive. Sad really. I bought lots of different gear from them over the years. As I see it, Craigslist did them in. Way back in the day, Daddy's became about the only place you could get a good deal if you wanted to sell. Pawn shops were really not around, and neither was GC. Local music shops hated trade ins with a passion. Daddy's filled the void.
