Concerts - Favorite of 2016 and Looking Forward To 2017

I really want to see Setzer again - he is hinting at a Stray Cats tour. If that doesn't happen, I hope he does the Rockabilly Riot tour. Worst case scenario would be the BSO 2017 Christmas tour, which would not be a bad thing, either

He's one of those acts I really want to see. I'll have to keep an eye out for some DC dates.

The only one I tried to attend was canceled. Rock shows start late in Denver, and if a headliner can’t go on by 10:embarrassed:0, I’m not interested.

Then you would love what I call the 9:30 Club old man shows. There are some nights, they do a 6 PM show and they have a late night dance party. I caught Bob Mould and the Jayhawks last year at them. Both shows were done by 9:30, it was awesome

Highlight concertwise would probably be the Guitar Army. I would say the Richard Smith/Frank Vignola/Vinnie Raniolo/Tommy Emmanuel jam but that was at a Guitar camp so I don't think it qualifies as a concert since only those attending the camp could go.

Next year currently nothing is on the table except another camp

I grew up in the DC area so I was spoiled by clubs like the 9:30 that only do a late show if it’s a dance party after the concert. Many NYC venues do the same thing. So I don’t understand why some Denver venues think people want to drive home well after midnight. Nor do I understand the recent trend of metal shows being mini-festivals with four bands and twenty+ minutes between each one. I was so happy when I saw Electric Wizard because they had one opening act, they went on at 10:embarrassed:0, and they played their set without a break or encore. But even that show could have started an hour earlier and I doubt anyone would have complained.

In March The Who was my fave, upended later by McCartney. So many great shows, Black Sabbath, Neil Young and Promise of the Real, Willie Nelson, Ian Hunter and the Rant Band, Marc Ford, Rich Robinson, Los Lobos, Ween, Govt Mule, ZZ Top, Jeff Beck, Buddy Guy, Jimmie Vaughan.

Some I could have skipped like George Thorogood. He has so many great deep tracks but plays the same dozen or so the radio does.

I didn't see a lot this year. Weird Al at Radio City was a highlight. I'm looking forward to seeing Moon Hooch in Brooklyn in February. I also want to make an effort to see Jim Campilongo this year. He plays at 10pm on Monday nights and it's not exactly an easy thing to get to these days.

We didn't see a lot of concerts in 2016.
Billy Idol. Joe Bonamassa.
For me, Joe was the highlight.
For my wife, Biddely Idle.

All we've got booked so far in 2017 is Colin James. He's touring in support of his new blues album, Blue Highways.
We'll see that in February.
Other than that, we see the Elvis tribute guy do the full Aloha concert in an arena.

I went to all of two concerts in 2016 and both were amazing.

The highlight was definitely Jason Isbell at Red Rock with @Kerouac. Awesome venue, awesome music, awesome company.

The other was a Glenn Phillps solo show in a small venue with maybe 200 people there. Plus I got to talk to Glenn after the show for a bit. A class act all the way.

2017 - I don't know. I have a very tight budget and stuff like concerts are just not financially viable. I keep looking out for great free/cheap shows locally. Once I get married and reduce the debt load a bunch I'll try to make up for lost time.

Love seeing John Prine live. He puts on a great show.

I lived in Nashville for 13 years and had the privilege of seeing him more than a few times, most memorably in 2010 at the Ryman when we had front row seats. He never disappoints.

As a side note, he used to frequent a Jewish deli in Nashville called Goldie's that no longer exists. I saw him in there on two different occasions. I guess the guy likes a good Reuben.

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo jealous. Mike Garson and Adrian Belew have been posting clips on Facebook all week.

Duuuuuuude. Easily in my top ten shows ever, and I've been hitting shows for 30+ years. If they do it again next year, you should go.

Even though it was easily the smallest, I really enjoyed seeing All Them Witches with @Chad . That was this year, right?

I've got Sigur Ros in May...YEEEESSSSSS. :)

The Bowie tribute on Tuesday was epic, spectacular, life-affirming, etc.

I mean, damn.
