I had bought this with every intention of selling it, which I did, but you know, it really grew on me, and that's something, knowing you bought something the ugliest stock finish there is. For what it's worth, clownburst has a place in the world.

It's funny because I think that red finishes usually look great. And lemon burst usually looks great. But when you put them together, it looks terrible.

I like a nice cherry sunburst, but I don't like it when the edge is all red, and then a sharp cutoff for the yellow. It's better when the red edge is understated and fades gradually to yellow

The actual point of 'clown burst' is that there is no fade or transition between the yellow -> red

For some reason people have started calling anything w/ a cherry sunburst a clown burst cop0

It's sometimes hard to tell with old eyes when viewing on my phone but I'm going to say this is not clown.

Yeah, to me a clown burst is a red outer color with zero fade to the inner yellow. Gibson was famous for these in their cherry sunbursts in the 70's. I have a friend with a custom that almost looks like they masked off the innner yellow when they sprayed the red. It looks terrible.

I have 2 clown-burst Les Paul's. Yeah it's not my favorite color, but they're great guitars.

This. But over time I've found that I just don't like cherry sunbursts at all. Iced tea or tobacco or even dark cherry is fine. But I'm just not a BRIGHT PRIMARY RED cherry kind of guy.
