Clip on tuners... yay or nay? For bass?

I like the Snarks for guitars and banjo. For pedal steel I use a Strobo Stomp because it has a special mode for the sweetened pedal steel tuning, designed to take into account that your instrument is a ridiculous shifting box of tension that you are driving like a submarine, but with your feet.

Jello! Good to see you. Did I ever tell you about the time I went out with Howie in NYC? We may or may not have killed a drifter. It's a bit hazy.
You didn't, no...couldn't have been any worse than spending 5 hours in a car with him, driving through New Jersey...done it four times so far...

I prefer a plugged in tuner and an amplified bass sound (with tuner), so I'm never in a bass situation where the Snark is the best option. Jamming or miked acoustic they're amazing.

I have a Snark and I'm not terribly pleased with it. There's a lot of pitch range on it for what counts as "in tune". At least to my ears. I'm thinking of trying the T.C. Electronics tuner since I've heard good things about that.
