Bird Pics & Videos

2015, my late wife took this with a very inexpensive pocket camera. Her passion was blue birds and humming birds.

I figured out that the Squirrel is not climbing the pole to the feeder. The squirrel is jumping across and down from a branch on a tree. It’s only one particular athletic squirrel making the leap. None of the other squirrels seem to be able to make it.

There are two possible branches that the squirrel is jumping from. One is a large live branch high above and off to the side of the feeder. The other is a short, dead branch, on a tree in back of the feeder. The squirrel broke off the bird emblem on the top of the pole during one of it’s leaps which makes me think it’s jumping from the short branch in back.

I can cut that dead branch. But, the squirrel only visits twice a day. So, I’m not in a hurry to stop it. I’m actually a bit impressed. I want to video the acrobat. I’m trying to figure out how to set up a camera to do it.

I've seen Netvue feeders listed between $129 to $199. The camera seems to be the same. But, the packages of what's included is a bit different. The mounting pole, including anti-squirrel baffle, was purchased separately by my wife and I don't know the cost. I'm expecting it's a matter of time before a deer or bear knocks that feeder pole down.

I'm already making plans to hang our Netvue feeder near a 2nd story window, out of reach of the larger animals, if the pole gets knocked down. The tricky part is that wind can blow a hanging feeder into the window. I've had that happen with hanging hummingbird feeders a few times. So far, there's never been broken glass. Obviously, I mounted those feeders next to windows that can be opened to make it easy to remove and fill the feeders.
 
A new breed of bird showed up to the feeder this morning. Unfortunately, the feeder was empty at the time.

Any ideas what kind of bird this is in the video and pics? It makes a sound that reminds me of a bicycle horn in the video.
