Question: Best Indiana Jones knockoff

Depends on your definition of knockoff...

How about this one?

The only thing I remember about National Treasure was the torture my bladder endured after being tricked by multiple false endings. I finally decided I had enough and made a run for the restroom, and missed the actual ending.

Bring 'em Back Alive was in the same timeslot as 'Tales of the Golden Monkey, on a different channel.

I had to choose between them, and mostly went with Golden Monkey. I'd be curious to watch both shows again, see if they up in any way today.

Isn't Indiana Jones a knockoff of some of the movies mentioned here, or at least a knockoff the source material for those movies?

If I remember rightly, Lucas based Indiana Jones on some of the adventure movies of the silent and early 'talkie' movies eras.

I didn't know they were in the same timeslot, but at the time I lived in a city with only one network TV station, so it wouldn't have mattered anyway.

Off by a bit. Late-30s through the 50s. Lots of matinee stuff, as well as Gunga Din and Treasure of the Sierra Madre.

And it’s also got stuff like Lawrence of Arabia, as hinted at above. And stuff like James Bond. And it’s got Nazis. And it’s also funny.

It’s a great cocktail.

With the exception of Lawrence of Arabia, every film or TV show previously mentioned in this thread came after Raiders of the Lost Ark.
