Poor phineas. We've never had to keep the cone on our dogs. Just watch the area. Probably be fine.
Diego was the same way. We let him play and just watched. Just tried to make sure stitches were good and watched for infection. Good luckHe's tried to lick it twice, both times he stopped when told "leave it" - will probably cone him for the crate tonight, since we can't watch him then. The hardest part is going to be the "no playing or running for 10 days rule" - he's a 6-month-old Lab mix, he is ENERGETIC and ACTIVE - they told us he'd probably just sleep all evening from the anesthetic, and he is dying to go play....up and around and wanting to run...
Is that why they put a cone on me when I had my vasectomy?

If we could bite and lick ourselves we wouldn't need vasectomies. We wouldn't even need wives for that matter, except for the cooking and cleaning part.
Had to take Phineas to the vet today to remedy a bit of a situation
Please tell me when you loaded him into the car you said, "Phineas, I know what we're going to do today."
