Beato Identifies the Worst Music Ever Recorded

There has never been a time in the history of Heavy Metal where more than about 5% of it was any good.

That 5% is really fucking good, tho.

And I suppose the 5% rule probably carries over to other genres, as well.

In many ways metal has become pop music. Not to sound like an elitist, but generally speaking, metal, like other ‘pop’ genres, is now big business. Metal kind of has become a victim of its own success, and it’s now a widely accepted mainstream music genre.

Luckily for me, there is still plenty of excellent underground metal
Who is making money in metal today, except maybe guitar dudes who monetize their youtube?

In the eighties and nineties you had household names like ozzy, metallica, and marilyn manson. But who is the equivalent now?

In fairness it's probably the same in all genres (well AOR cuntry might be different because cuntry) but isn't it all gig economy nowdays? you gotta be a player andf sell soundbites, do youtube, have a line of shoes or loungewear ofr softdrinks, etc

Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden etc are still around and are still making shit tons of money, perhaps more than ever.

Also, as the musical landscape has changed a lot, most artists don't make much money anymore from traditional means such as record sales. You may or may not have noticed, but metal is quite prominent on social media, perhaps one of the biggest genres on social media. Social media has replaced traditional media such as records as a source of income and a lot of new metal bands are making a lot of money.

Having watched the video, it also confirmed to me that a lot of what is now called 'metal' is pop music wrapped in an 'edgy metal' coating to appeal to a younger and wider audience... dance-y synths, auto-tuned vocals, slick pop production, simple basic tunes, catchy choruses, teen angsty lyrics... . I know for a fact that a lot of these 'metal' bands are manufactured to the point where members are picked by producers/record labels based on their looks and image. Many can't play a instrument or sing to save their lives. It wouldn't surprise me if Simon Cowell would come up with a 'metal' band any time soon

I like Beato's videos, in moderation. He definitely has a good ear and can dissect a song quickly. That Abasi fan fret guitar he plays at 5:40 is really something.

Ive watched quite a bit of Beato but I cant bring myself to click on that one.
I've never enjoyed metal.........ever.
Except maybe a few Sabbath, Deep Purple, U Heep, and Zep tunes back in the 70s when I first got into guitar.
But even then those were never my favorites. I never got into the 80s metal and beyond.
The only band that I ever really liked that was even close to the metal genre was BOC.
