Be honest, who's looking forward to the Harry Potter flick?

I am in the same boat as Modern Saint. My sons are 13 and 11, and grew up with the books and movies. My 8 year old daughter is now having the books read to her. We are starting the second book now. She is not ready for the darkened later books of the series yet by a long shot though.


I am really looking forward to seeing it with my oldest on our road trip, then probably with my middle boy too.
 
I've seen them all thus far.
I'm not a raving fan by any stretch, but I will see this one.

I've not seen any of them in theatres though, only at home.
 
Did I ever show you guys the street in town that she based Diagon Alley off of?
 
All four of my kids are fans of the series.

My #2 son won two tickets to an advance showing so he and my daughter went and saw it (in 3D) Monday night. And yes - they both dressed up. And they loved the movie.

My second son has the Lego Diagon Alley set. Yes, I like it. Star Wars and Harry Potter legos are my favorites of the many legos my sons have owned. Ok, and I'll even admit that I subscribed to the podcast known as "Mugglecast" in advance of the first installment of this final set of two movies. :lol:

She was hoping when they were done with Narnia, they would move on to the Harry Potter stuff, but they wanted to re-read Narnia. So probably sometime in the next couple of months, they will get started on Potter.

I really liked the Narnia books. The movies leave a lot out for my taste. I am glad they are drawing attention to the books again though.

I drove by the mostly kids in line at the Hailey theatre on the way home from a mountain bike ride. Not a huge scene in our little town, but fun to see the kids out.
 
My friend Jer just called and wanted to know if I still had the ticket. He's calling his wife to make sure its cool, but I think he'll sway her with the argument "Honey, if I *don't* see Harry Potter the fundamentalists win!". :grin:

Apparently she used to sit in a pub on it writing and that's where the idea came from. Pretty cool place. Lots of nice bars and great restaurants.

Coincidentally enough they've got a cool tiny little cinema on it with leather seats (and £2.50 white russians more to the point) so that's where I'll be watching the last one :thu:
 
Impressions:

Pace felt a little rushed, which irked me since Part 1 was seemingly nothing but camping. That Big Battle That Happens was my favorite part, although I was let down a bit because I was hoping it would be longer and focus more on individual fights than wide angle, simultaneous battling. Think LotR with fewer close ups. The score was incredible and the Gringots portion was fantastic. Neville was really funny. The ending went as expected and A bunch of teenage girls cried. :rolleyes:

All in all 9/10 for most people, 7.5/10 for me, just because I expected The Battle to be bigger and was kinda let down. That's my hangup though. :embarrassed:
