Question: Anyone played the PRS SE nf53 ?

Or the USA version for that matter?
These interest me more than the Silver Skys.
At first the looks put me off... but Im warming to the dog hair and birds on maple given the apparent Tele Shaped Object innovation going on.
I kinda want to try one but Im afraid I'll like it.

I like the concept, but I'm confused why both the US and SE models were prices higher than the Silver Skies.

Everything about it is the easiest guitar for them to build. The it's $100 more than the Silver Sky in the SE line and $150 (for gloss finish) in the USA line is crazy. And $120 more than the SE DGT, which has a top carve and set neck. Every SE bolt-on has more going on than the nf53, but the SE CE guitar $300-500 cheaper.

I get it's a free market thing, but I'd likely have taken the plunge if they were $699. I haven't even played one, but have heard enough to take the risk. At the current price, it is and remains a pass.

My guess is that you'd like it...pretty sure I would too...

Thanks, that kinda helps calm my curiosity and GAS.
I hadn't even looked at the prices. Just figured they were in line with other SE models.
At first I thought what a dogsht fugly take on a Tele, but the design has kinda grown on me despite the looks.
I kinda want to experience those pickups.

I’ve played a couple of the USA versions and maybe an SE. The pickups are nice. Sort of neutral and versatile. Definitely have some chime vs. a conventional humbucker. Seems like a pretty usable set of sounds.

The necks on the USA ones are nice. Chunky but not ridiculous.

Resonant guitars that sound nice. Kind of ugly. A bit of “they’re boxy but they’re good” vibes.

I was curious about why the NF 53 is more expensive. I saw the NF 53 is ash and the Silver sky is poplar and wondered, is ash that more expensive? Then I noticed the white dog hair NF 53 is actually $20 less than the Silver Sky on Sweetwater. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SENF53WD--prs-se-nf-53-electric-guitar-white-doghair

Ash is super expensive relative to other toan woods because of the Emerald Ash Borer situation. And it’s kind of hard to come by reliably. I’m sure the materials costs are a concern

That color isn't moving and the ones they've got listed are kinda heavy for Tele-style guitar...they should all be about a pound less.

I'm still not a fan of Rob Chapman, but he pulled back the curtain on the Core-Tek factories and having them build your guitars. Using "better" woods and adding "premium" features (roasted necks, SS frets, name brand components, etc.) were negligible upcharges at the factory. The choice to use such features to jack up the price of a guitar for the players is up to the company whose name in on the headstock (or body).

$929 is still too high for the feature set for me. For full transparency, I have a MIJ 69 Thinline, a USA ASAT Special, and a Godin Session Custom that all fill various Tele itches. I'd like to get a traditional Telecaster, despite having no real use for it...always find a reason not to get one when I do buy new guitars, usually because of the aforementioned guitars.

Appreciate the feedback everybody. I was just curious. I already have 2 Teles and I need another guitar like a whole in the head, but if I decided to get a PRS that was the model that struck my curiosity the most.

Not sure what your question is...it's either $779 for a new one or $701 for an open box. That's at least $150 less than the white doghair and $270 less than the backordered Pearl White. Both objectively great deals for this guitar...based on its current overpriced status.

I guess I'm not used to/shocked by different prices for different colors. I could see how the white pearl could take more work to prep the body before painting.
