GPOTD 7.21.22

It has a lot of PRS features that I like.
But its still too over the top for me.
Get rid of the F holes and make it a reg McCarty style solid body.
Ditch the koa and gimme a moderately flamed maple top.
Use nickel hardware instead of gold.
Then it would be a PRS I could live with.

For comparison... here's a Private Stock Hollow Body that's using the traditional woods (Mahogany neck and core, flame maple front and back, Brazilian rosewood fingerboard) and no inlays.

OMG NO INLAYS!!!

(Still not hot. But infinitely hotter.)

I like it. It doesn’t look like a PRS.
It looks like it was made by a great luthier who usually works on fabulous $20,000 jazz boxes.

:baimun:

I knew when I sent this to TR that it was going to be polarizing. Most of you know how much I love Koa, and I would sell a kidney to get a Koa PRS Hollowbody…. That said, I would want regular PRS amber knobs, and I could do without the over-the-top ornate bindings and birds. I do love wood in wood inlays for fingerboards, but if I could afford a Private Stock, it would be a single bird at the 12th or something subtle like the Anniversary Birds. Gorgeous construction though.

You deserve koa.

I agree with baimun in that it needs the amber tophat knobs. I dont really care for those wood knobs :embarrassed:

It was a bit busy for me, so i did a quick and dirty photoshop to get rid of most of the knobs and inlays and i reckon i could easily live with that hanging on the wall now.
