5 Guys for lunch....(doubles as todays lunch thread)

There's a Five Guys about 15 minutes from my house but I've never been. There is a bar about 2 minutes walking distance that has 2 dollar burgers with a pile of hand cut fries on Tuesdays that is really good and convenient so I usuall go there if I want a burger.

Looks like I'd have to go to Buffalo, NY or Philadelphi, PA to get to my nearest 5 Guys. I'd better plan on something else.

Take your next vacation out here and I will take you to one. After Tommys of course....

I was hoping to come out next fall, but all my vacation time is in December next year... NYC from 7-10 and then the week after Xmas off from teaching.

instead, i will bring it to you.

Ok, I might get a hot dog. :embarrassed:

I went to a steak house last night and ordered a big salad. It was disappointing. I kicked the waiter in the back.

Not a true story.

The last time I went to a coffeeshop (a term that in Holland refers to a place where you buy and use drugs), I ordered coffee.

True story.

And the coffee was actually pretty good, too. I wasn't expecting that.

5 Guys is good stuff. I used to eat at the original one in Arlington when I lived in the DC area. Before they franchised it, there were a few locations in the DC area. There was one in Alexandria right near a client of mine when I did consulting. It was 1 thing I was going to miss about DC when we moved to Charlottesville. Then the franchised it and by the time I moved to C'Ville, they had 1 and now we are up to 3. My brother said they have a few in Jax Beach, so I will be all set for our move there. Jax Beach also has a Mellow Mushroom, so I am all set to move.

I've often wondered about this: If "coffee shops" are places to get pot, what do you call a place that actually sells coffee? Is it a "cafe?" Do coffee only joints not actually exist?

This thread has made me decide to hold off on lunch so I can hit 5 guys on my way to a house call.

Generally, we get coffee at a café, which is a type of place where you can also get beer, wine, etc., and where there is usually also a lunch menu and sometimes a dinner menu. Other than that, there are coffee-on-the-go places where you can't sit down.

But the Starbucks invasion is beginning here, so in a few years it might all be different.

There's a starbucks on every other block in Tustin (Orange County, where I used to live). It's ridiculous.

Here in Massachusetts there aren't many Starbucks, at least in the small towns, but you can't turn a corner without finding a Dunkin' Donuts. messedup0
