2026 Concert Thread

I picked up some dinner table seats for Uli Roth on Friday, April 10th. At 71, he's planning on a 3 hour show. He will showcase his oil paintings during the show. He will have an orchestra.

His artwork has been described as Rembrandt meets Star Wars.

Going to see George Thorogood tonight. I know, a lot of you haters think of him as a novelty act, or a boomer symbol of long lost days, but he puts on a fun show, and the old geezer still rocks harder than most of the musicians half his age.

Saw The Last Dinner Party on Saturday night. An Irish band called Florence Road opened for them. TLDP is gaining an audience here. FR has some popularity in Ireland and the UK. FR is young. All the members are in the early to mid 20's. You'd never know it by their songwriting. Good stuff. They put on a really good show. I think they have a lot of potential. TLDP also put on a great show. I was impressed. Sadly, their bassist injured her back and is hospitalized in Kansas City. Her Instagram post said that she fractured a vertebrae. I hope that's not the case. Her bass tech played her parts. Here's a couple of TLDP pics. Abigail Morris is one hell of a front woman. She's easy on

the eyes too.

Man, the Uli Roth show last night was incredible! He did the whole Virgin Killers, most of In Trance, and Sails of Charon from Taken By Force. He also played a bunch of classical piano pieces on his guitar. It was a 3 hour show with no opening band. The band was so tight, and unique sounding. He had this woman Gwen sing the lead on Yellow Raven. I was floored.

He did this classical piece with a Darth Vader clip in the background. I'm sure the dude eating dinner right next to us dug it. He was comic great Brian Posehn. A huge Star Wars fan. Literally. He's 6'7''. He's one of my favorite, quirky celebrities.

I listened to In Trance so much when I was a teenager

Gwenifer Raymond in Albuquerque last night. Phenomenal player, truly her own thing. Take John Fahey and turn the metaphysical menace up to 11.

I saw the Guitar Moves she did with Matt Sweeney, I thought her playing and just personality in general were really exciting. It's great to see someone - especially a woman - taking that American Primitive style into the 21st century.

Scored some front row center tickets to The Pineapple Theif in November. It's in a 750 seat venue I've never been to.

Saw Dylan in Asheville with my 15 year old on Sunday. It was a X-mas gift. A few weeks ago Dylan announced a pair of local dates at Wolf Trap, but I couldn't sell my son (or family) on that swap. We all wanted to visit Asheville, which we all loved.

Dylan definitely sounds older, but he still sounded very good and his band was killer. He's more of a blues writing and singer these days (seemingly been a big part of his focus for decades), just with deeper lyrics.

He played keys all night, but a tech nabbed this '60s style tele custom with two covered HBs off a stand when they started breaking down. He took piano solos on quite a few tunes.
Two guitar players that only played acoustic all night (same guitars all night, looked like a jumbo and a dread, the guy playing the dread was pretty big, making the guitar looks smaller, but it may not have been a dread. They used acoustic tones and piezo tones to do slightly more electric sounds. They sounded great.
Bass player mainly stuck to a black Jazz, but played an upright on a few tunes and a Bass VI on one tune.
Drumming was really good too...small set, but great feel and sound.

There was somewhat of a New Orleans jazz feel to the band as Dylan (on the piano) and the the guitarists would kind of play over/through each other in a very cool way.

16 songs, only a brief hello and band intro later in the show. Just song after/into song. No encore, but he came to the front and did a nice boxer pose.

Phones in bags, so no pics or clips. My son also really enjoyed it. He was worried because he'd heard some bootleg stuff from recent years where Bob wasn't sounding too good. No issues for us. Thinking about nabbing tix for one of the Wolf Trap shows, but I'd need to track the set list. He's been playing the same set for most of the current tour.

If you like Bob and the blues, I recommend seeing him.

Adding more, Dylan's bassist was really very good, as was the sound overall. It took about three lines at the first mic to get Dylan's vocals loud enough, but once that was set the sound was really good. You could hear everyone.

Loved the venue too. The Thomas Wolfe Auditorium is one I'd gladly recommend and would like to see more shows there. Give that it's a 7+ hor drive without stops, it's not something we'll be frequenting.

@PunkKitty how was the Ethel Cain concert?
Great show. It was different from when I saw her in Chicago in September. Different stage design and set list. The Miller High Life Theater is a nice place to see a show. I enjoyed staying in downtown Milwaukee.

So I have the Satch - Vai - Thorn - Abasi show this Sunday..... and I just landed 4 tickets to a show in November that has me pretty excited.

We went up to Shreveport this week to see him. My daughter got me the tickets as a bday gift. Same set up and presentation as you described.
