2024 Your Year in Gear

The face of emmaporkchop
So how did your 2024 shape up in terms of gear? What came and went? What do you still have, what were you most impressed by?
I mainly learned that I don't care for Tom Anderson guitars. They're nice, and well made, but just not for me.
I was most surprised / impressed with Walrus Audio Fundamental series pedals. Super easy to get really good, useable sound out of with very little time spent messing around with them.

Lessee- I am not aware of having unloaded any gear this year, while I have acquired the following:
  • Larrivee D-40r 12-fret
  • Cajon and beater pedal
  • Fender Acoustasonic Player Telecaster - painted by a local artist

I might have purchased a DI box and a volume pedal this year, but I think that was last year. Oh, wait--i just got a bass drum pedal to set up a kit from random stuff I've got.

No guitars or amp came or went. 2025 think I’m gonna get a Spark2.

Put a small board together for my lady friend’s house.

Joyo Wah/volume II
Silver horse overdrive
Donner reverb
Donner Turner pedal
Amazon basics TS overdrive
TCE Choka Trem
Ernieball strap
Fender coil cable
D’addarrio strings
Snark clip on
Elixer strings
polishing compound
wool buffing pads
Musiclily sustain block
Musiclily brass saddles
Lemon oil
String Swing guitar hangers
Graphtech Strat nut

Finished building this guitar, it had some mixed match humbuckers that I liked separately but didn't work well together. Got from Iron Gear a set of TeSLA SHark humbuckers that I just installed and tried through my Black Star Fly. They make that thing sound actually really good, so I'm really looking forward to a real amp soon.

Also switched a Lace Blue out on my partscaster for a Silver.

Sold a Dean Evo Special to a coworker.

That's it.

Guitar wise, I’m still finishing off my lightweight Warmoth Soloist…

… and I got that orange Schecter strat as a backup guitar.

The Sheeran Looper has been an adventure… loved it… then couldn’t wait to sell it…. Now I’m accepting some of the workflow quirks and embracing what it can do that other loopers can’t. Just yesterday I figured out how it can power a midi pedal to enable functions that otherwise require multiple taps to menu dive.

But probably the coolest get this year was the Soldano Astro. It will take a few practices and gigs to see if I like it better than the Kemper for gigs, or once I sit down with the Kemper manual and figure out how to make it channel switch and be a multi-FX with the amp. :baimun:

I might have gotten another ukulele this year, too. Not sure of the timing. Liquidation auction win for pennies on the dollar.

I also bought the Alex Lifeson pack for the IK Tonex. So, more amps??

That AIMS amp is really cool. I had the Geddy Lee pedal when it first came out, no idea what I did with it.

Got a Behringer XR-12 and a Seismic Audio splitter snake to run in-ears for gigs and monitors for rehearsal (then quit the band a few months later:facepalm: )
Sold a Yamaha Revstar, PRS SE One, Ibanez Artcore, and Alvarez acoustic.
Bought a Tokai goldtop LP and a Simmons Titan 70 e-drumkit.

Forgot to mention this little giant....

If you don't have a big modeler like a Kemper or Fractal... Pick one of these little bad boys up... I got it as a Christmas gift, but they're only about $60!! Some of the stock IRs sound really usable... I was able to run Tuner -> Tumnus -> IR -> Sheeran Looper and it sound pretty damned good.

Apparently it's pretty easy to load your own IRs as well and if you delete one of them (would make sense to erase or move the one in the first slot) it can act as a bypass. I'll keep my favorites of the stock, see if I can copy over some from the Soldano, and use the last couple for my favorite Acoustic IRs from the Nux Optima Air. Will make a super useful Swiss Army Knife... and it's built like a little tank with a 1/4" and XLR out.

I'm only listing what I'm keeping:
- White Burny LPC
- Warwick Streamer 4 string bass
- Spector Performer 5 string bass
- A few parts guitars and a parts bass that I built
- Joyo hybrid head (Marshall clone)
- Monoprice 15 watt tube combo
- Kustom Defender V15 tube combo

@Modern Saint

Okay.... I don't have to feel bad about all the stuff I buy and sell in a years time now. :helper:

Well these past 2 years I have been purging alot of gear. The difference is I have had a lot of this gear over the past 15 or so years and it was time to let much of it go.

In 2025, I currently have a laundry list of 1-2 guitars and about 4 amps.

I sold nothing. I’m a gear hoarder. :bigg:
