Question: What are your favorite strat pickups?

I'm thinking of changing out the Suhr v60lp's on my 440. I like the Duncan antiquity pickups and I've heard that the Fender 69 Custom Shop pickups are really good too. I'm looking more for that later 60's strat sound I think. I might give the Duncan Trembucker custom thats in my black strat a spin too.

I've always been a Duncan guy before the Suhrs. I'm wondering what might be cool in that guitar though. The Suhr single coils have gotten a little too polite to my ears lately. Especially next to the 454.

They are so expensive though. I'm not sure they are $400 better than anything else.

Only replacement ones I've ever used in any guitar are the Tonerider City Limits set I dropped into my Purple Plastic Plank for £70. I wasn't looking for anything too expensive as the whole project was aimed to come in under £200. Sound good to me but I suspect you're looking a bit more top end.

Best set of pickups I have heard on a Strat was one that had a Rio Grande Big Bottom set installed.

The hardest part about replacing pickups is that you never know what they are really going to sound like until you have them in the guitar, too.

I had an original set of Lace Sensors that put me off them forever. I think I still have them now that I think about it.

I really dig the gold ones. The other flavors, not so much.

I think tele911s strat had them in it and it sounded rad. I'm just not really into them though.
