Hot or Not? Fender Japan Stratocaster Thinline

I figured out exactly how I want one...

Standard options:
- natural mahogany finish
- pearl pickguard

My tweaks:
- Maple fretboard...probably just black dots, but maybe the same cream binding and pearloid blocks.
- Tele neck/headstock (preferably 22-frets)

Obviously were I to acquire one, I could make that change sometime in the future. I'd really love a MIM version for about $699.00 though.

"Stratocaster" is a registered trademark of the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation. they could put the name on a smoke detector, and it too would be a "Stratocaster".

Would you go so far as to call it the Stratocaster of Thinlines?

Nom!

But "Stratocaster?"

Um, no. Not even close.

and

It is a Stratocaster-shaped object with a sadly misplaced Stratocaster decal on it.

While I hear you, Gibson and Fender dropped any notion of unique specifications determining what they call a guitar. Fender at least help out until the 1980's while Gibson gave it up in the '60s.

I love it, but I understand those that don't. Names don't mean much...would Natalie Portman be any less amazing looking were her name Bertha? It's the specs that I like and Fender knows that it can sell some amount of any guitar they call a Stratocaster.

That one and this one would make me very happy.

Welcome to boner-town. Population: 2manband

I kinda like htat, and I don't usually care for Strats
My thoughts, as well!

Odd man out, but I don't like this at all. HATE the inlays. I really hate block inlays in general, but especially on bolt-ons. Reminds me of my piece of shit Kent, which I also hate. And the finish also reminds me of the cheap MIJ guitars of the late 60's, so it's a no for me.
Yeah, the block inlays don't do much for me, either...the rest of the guitar interests me, though.

What's nice? The Thinline Strat, the Gretsched-out Tele, or 2man's boner?

It's cool either way. I was just looking for clarification.

Both flavors of the Thinline Strat: HB and singles tied with the Gretsched out Tele. 2man's boner comes (get it?) in at a distant second.
