I think I'm going to put 10's back on all of my guitars.

My general rule has always been .009 to .046 on Strat scale lengths and .010 to .046 on the LP. I had 11's on the LP for a while but have gone back to 10's (Gibson Vintage reissue, thanks for the heads up Mark, I love 'em!)

The exception is my Suhr (Strat scale length)..which has 10's. I tried putting on a set of 9-46...and it just didn't feel right.

+1. What do you like about the Gibson Vintage Reissue strings? I'm curious what other folks have to say.

They seem to me to have a warmer and fatter "bloom" to the note..they also last for ages. I do like D'Addario too, but they're noticeably brighter sounding to me..which is good sometimes, but particularly on the Les Paul, the Gibson strings seem to just work better in reproducing the tone I imagine in my head. :embarrassed:

i have talked to representatives from D'Addario, GHS, Curt Mangan, Ernie Ball, Dunlop, and DR. they all make their own strings. so while there are certainly fewer manufacturers than there are brands, it is not nearly the ratio we think it is.
