I think everyone should own at least one single-pickup guitar. whether it's a LP Junior, a Frankenstrat, an Esquire, or even a Malcom Young Gretch.... there's something liberating about a single pickup guitar. It's like when you play an acoustic, you don't go reaching for the eq knobs and constantly change the tone.... you alter your picking attack, palm muting, and do more with the NOTES than the electronics after the strings.
There's nothing quite as cool as being in a groove on a single pickup guitar, plugged direct into an amp, and spending your time watching the other players for when to hit transitions rather than looking down at your instrument.![]()
+1. I love my Junior and it's not nearly as limited as many believe. I'm not sure if it's the simplified wiring, the extra wood around the neck or what, but I can get more sounds from the bridge pup on the Jr than I can the bridge pup on most other guitars.
Maybe you just adapt and learn the techniques need to use it, but I only occaissionally miss a neck pickup on that guitar...which is odd, because most other guitars, I use the neck pickup far more than the bridge. ???

Love it, but that's one guitar that's just begging for a goldtop.

where do you think the mojo comes from?

i think it's just a matter of learning how to use the volume and tone controls. many players forget this and just change to a different pickup or get into unnecessary gear swapping.

If tone is in the fingers, why do I sound best on acoustic guitar?![]()
Quit posting Reverend pics........I do not need GAS attacks right now!
(Silver one is smokin' hot!).

Wait until Pragestock when I show up with a trunk full of them.
