Newsflash! The big HC upgrade is coming on Thursday...

This should go fairly painlessly I think. If I can do it on my own then an "big company owned" site should be able to upgrade without too much trouble. It'll be fun having visitors Thursday morning, though. :tongue:

I do have to add that Live Ruckus attempted this same upgrade last week and completely lost their database, so they are starting over from scratch. No posts, no forums, no nothing.
 
A vBullitin upgrade really should be no big deal. It's pretty stable and used by a lot of forums. There may be some slight changes to the interface but nothing serious like the last debacle.

Of course this is HC that we're talking about. I suspect that they could screw up a one car funeral.

A vBulletin 3.x upgrade is no big deal because that is a very stable platform. The 4.0 series is a little scary (VB was bought out and the original development team is long gone) and I usually run a couple of versions behind and watch the carnage unfold before I commit. Ultimately as long as you keep backups nothing is permanent, but some people aren't that smart.
 
I've been playing around in the test server for the past couple weeks. Everything looks fine and works just fine there. In fact, it looks and feels a lot like MWGL. :embarrassed:

If it's running well in the test environment things will probably go pretty well, then. Are they just using the forums or the whole vb suite lime I have here?
