Even though the consensus here was to run the 8 mile race and try to beat my time from last year, we decided to do the 1/2 marathon since they'd changed the course since last year.
Weather was good. The race didn't start until 11
0, so it was probably 65 or so at the start, and got up to the mid 70s by the time I finished.
At .9 miles into the race, I rolled my ankle really bad. The woman behind me says "Are you okay?" In my mind, I said "What the fuck do you think? Did you see how bad I rolled my ankle? It hurt like hell." What I actually said was "Yeah, I'm fine." and I kept running even though my ankle was hurting. I rolled the same ankle two more times in the next 2 miles.
So, I'm running/jogging with an extremely sore ankle now. When I got to the cutoff for the 8 mile race, I nearly took it just to be finished sooner, but my pride wouldn't let me DNF.
So, the last 10 miles of the race were pretty uneventful as far as injuries go. My ankle was killing me, but I was still jogging for the most part.
Finished the race in 2:25
0.
This is the only trophy I got.
Thankfully, we don't have any races on the schedule until January, so I should have plenty of time to heal up before starting to train for next season.
