Been a minute or so eh?

OGG is alive and well-ish. Had some stupid cancer stuff and other health issues but I'm still kickin' and enjoying my travels to baseball parks and Formula 1 races. Next stop: Boston for the Padres/Red Sox on 04/05 and Pittsburgh for Padres/Pirates on 04/06!

Not been playing much guitar sadly. As if my double hand reconstruction surgeries a few years ago weren't enough... I had 2 surgeries on each hand/arm last year for Carpal and Ulnar nerve release. Good times! But... my voice is stronger than ever and working on a new line up of The Obscure80's.

So, what'd I miss?
 
As one who definitely qualifies as a “knucklehead” here….


…. I’m having a buncha the board members over to our shop for cookout, making noises, and shenanigans next Saturday the 4th. You know you’re invited …. But that’s a pretty good haul from the west coast. :helper:

I fly into Boston that day, so it'd be a long haul from the East coast! Wish I could be there! I'll be in Chicago briefly on the 7th, just long enough to change planes. I'll Wave as we fly over . I hope you all have an awesome time.
 
I am SO jealous!

So far I've got 3 confirmed long trips for baseball this year. The Boston/Pitt trip and then Texas in June for Padres/Rangers. Trips up to Anaheim and Dodger Stadium don't really count, but I'm of course doing both. I'll probably get up to Sacramento to see the A's this year too. I definitely want to. Thinking about either Detroit, Milwaukee, or South Side for the Sox as a stand alone trip too. Haven't been to Wrigley in ages but it's my favorite place on Earth. Padres go there in late April but I can't make that trip.

Mu brother and I are getting dangerously close to having been to all of the currently active parks. Made a HUGE dent over the past 2 seasons. 2025 highlights were Seattle, Denver and Phoenix. 2024 highlights were Padres/Giants in San Francisco (aside from their insufferable fans) and A's/Yankees at the Oakland Coliseum for the final homestand ever... bittersweet and terribly sad but an amazing experience with wonderful fans. Say what you will about Oakland, but they are great fans of their (former) teams.

This will be my fourth opening day and the first one where it will be above 35 degrees.

I don’t recommend going over by the G Spot Field but @peensimmons might disagree with me on that.

If I were you, I'd definitely do the Sox and hurry, time is running out. They bought some land and are moving. Given the timeline of the Bears trying to relocate, you only have 20 years.

Glad to hear from you and past major for the cancer stuff. I am in remission from multiple myeloma myself. I still play guitar, mostly at open mic nights, though I had to switch to smaller acoustics with thinner necks. I have also started painting in the past couple of years and have my first solo show in July.

I live about 90 minutes from Fenway, though I have never been there. Then too, I never went to Camden Yards when I lived in Baltimore. If you are a baseball fan I imagine visiting ballparks around the country is fun. I hope you enjoy your trip.

Hey, the bleachers at G Rated Field is a wonderful place to learn new and interesting swears. I once saw security throw a guy out for politely cheering for the visiting Orioles in a obvious loss in a meaningless season of Sox baseball.

The beer and food options are objectively better than Wrigley—which is like having to eat out of a prison commissary with pricing set by Ticketmaster, three different airlines, and the Sheikh of Dubai. But the ballpark experience on the south side is “adequate.” The Sox should be scrappy and interesting this year—but probably not good.

The Cubs should be good this year, meaning they’ll likely make everyone nervous and unhappy.

Then you should take the train ride to South Bend and come to a South Bend Cubs game. Maybe one of the ones I'm singing the anthem at. :helper:

The bleachers at new Cominsky are more dangerous than the “L”, the lakefront, the bus and the subway combined.

I haven’t been there in ages but you are right, the food is excellent. The baseball sucks but the pierogis and campfire shakes make up for it.

yeah I was singing at the patio outside the gates where they keep the statues, but it's my gig story to tell however I want. :helper:

Sox and Cubs have the same record today, but I’m not sure how the South Siders are gonna win a single game this season. Yikes.
