Dig it! The Perpetual Pedalboard of the Day Thread

I made this little stripped down basic "gigging board" with my favorite fancy pedals to pair with the Carr Rambler. I have nice reverb and trem on the Carr, and I can still fit the Ph95 or other mini pedal on there if I need it. I could have put the power supply underneath but it was a tight fit and was gonna take some careful futzing. This was faster and tidy, and will be much easier to swap out a drive for dist or fuzz in a hurry.

Next project is re-assembling a big wet/dry rig for the Carr and Bassman that stays at home and doesn't travel.

I’ve been doing this for a month or so. Replaced the Boss GE7 with the Mistress. It started as an inside joke because everything one our band members records at home has mega flange on everything. I’ve been having fun with it adjusting on the fly in the heat of battle. Swoooooosshhhhh!!

^That one did the job Sunday with the Tele and the Carr.
Got a very consistent and pleasing tone off the bridge pup that cut thru, and enough gain when I needed it.

But next Sun I think I'll play the SG and use this. I love working a FF with my vol knob, and the little Joe B pairs great with the SGs HBs.
The blue side of the Protein does nice things for the fuzz as well, tames some spike and shelves of some excess low end and can sustain for days, lol. Plus I can aways eschew the fuzz, default to the trusty old green side, and just play a "normal" overdrive for a tone similar to last weeks Tele rig cept dont really need the comp with HBs.

The latest iteration of the Sunday jam session board. Put on the phaser for those one or two Walon tunes that always happen. Liking the Nobels Mini2 variable bass cut knob vs the switch on the big ODR-1. You can nreally taylor the amount of bass you can get away with to the environment. The comp is just a clean boost, very little compression going on. It's mostly on there in case I wanted to use single coils instead of the SG. Most of the time I ran the comp as a boost and the Nobels with the amp turned up pretty loud, and worked off my vol knob. But a time or two I stepped on the East River to really cut thru on a lead. Best sounding and functional minimalist jam session rig yet.

The little board gets more and more basic each week. Im back to employing a One Spot and a battery, lol.
I did the Eagles Lodge Sunday classic rock/country jam with the new old 96' black Mex Strat and fuzz, and just today did an old folks 50s/60s thing with my partscaster tele minus the fuzz. Strat>Fuzz>smidgen of comp>blue side of Protein>a hint of slapback>Carr= classic rock bliss :) Tele>smidge of comp>green side of Protein>bit o slap>Carr= totally cool rhythm guitar set up for old 50s/60s radio pop.

I just realized Im playing for the folks in assisted living, and those almost there but still go out drinking on Sunday afternoon. LOL.
Crap I just turned 69 years old, what demographic do I expect??

Just added the Bad Monkey today, now that prices have come back down. I had one when they were available new for $35...was just about to buy one when the JHS video came out and sent the prices soaring. Still paid more than $35, but felt it was reasonable at $75 in the current market.

I made a board for my Live looping gig this weekend that looks like a lot, but is deceptively simple.

IMG_3848.jpeg

My Taylor T5 has two outputs… acoustic and a single magnetic pickup with a volume knob. The acoustic goes to the Polytune on the left and to the NUX Optima air. The electric goes to the wah->Strobe Tuner->Kemper Profile Player. Both rout to the Boomerang III looper.

Typically I would then have each output go to their own direct box and then to two channels on the board…. But I realized that the NUX Optima Air has a send/receive… so the Kemper goes to the L input on the looper, the Nux send goes to the R… then I matched the volumes and sent a mono sum from the looper back to the NUX return. Voilà! One summed XLR out the side of the NUX for acoustic and electric. A second XLR for my vocal and I was good to go! :helper:

If I had taken the time to put together something for verb and compression of the vocal, I wouldn’t have needed the mixer… there are two inputs on the Maui speaker (and I could have run the monitor off the output of the main).

Im planning on stepping up my footprint a bit this Sunday from a little single row daisy chained board to this. Want to try out the 1176, it needs min 250mv, and I have the necc power under this board. Also gonna try out the Golden Fleece in the heat of battle.

^ The bigger board and isolated power turned out to be not worth it. The 1176 did its job really well and is a very nice comp, but the rig took up too much floor space re the benefit. Plus it was no quieter, was noisier even. Damn LED lights surrounding the stage still made my amp sound like a motor running every time I stepped on the FF or the G Fleece. I didnt have that prob with the FF on battery and the little daisy chained board, but I was plugged into my own power strip off the stage one which may have filtered some noise as well. Probably shoulda tried that yesterday instead off plugging directly into the same strip running those damn lights. In any case I kept having to turn the FF and GF off except when I needed to be loud and cut thru for a lead. Next week Im going back to something simpler. I really only have one basic need in this big Sunday jam situation and thats significant volume and cut on tap to make a statement when I want to thru the inevitable volume wars. I like doing it with a FF and Strat and my vol knob, but I may have to go back to a reg overdrive and a booster pedal for leads.

Since the old "Mexican Blackbird" Strat arrived my SG's been feeling neglected.
Reconfigured the little One Spot board to give the SG a turn with the Golden Fleece next Sunday.
The goal is to leave it all on most of the time and control vol and dirt from the guitar.
Cause that works so well with the Strat and FF Im spoiled for no pedal dancing. Wanna go for the same kinda thing w the SG and Fleece.
The TS seems to clean up well but theres no huge band to push thru here at home so it's hard to tell what's gonna work best. But Im liking the compression under the fingers with the TS.
Other options to replace the TS are
some setting on the EQD Plumes
a Klone (Mosky Silver Horsie, Soul Food, Notaklon is my fav but too big would have to loose the phaser but thats not the end of the world.
or- a BOSS SD-1 Super Overdrive,
or a BOSS GE-7 eq.
The BB side of the Protein (as above^ w Strat and FF) would also work, but again its large, I dont need the green side, and Id loose the phaser.

Which option would you pick for a thick live mix to have plenty of vol and gain on tap with guitar vol knob to cut straight thru under all circumstances?

ok Ive changed my mind again. Going back to a full 8 pedal rig and my voodoo labs x8 power. Today Im taking the chambered ash Player II Tele with the Wilde rails. Ive never actually played it live but I bet it's gonna cut thru the jam chaos like a hot knife thru butter. This board has enough gain stack options Im sure I can get some good tones out of it Also gonna plug into my own power strip/ext cord to another outlet this time to hopefully get around the pesky stage LED noises. Prob won't use the DD3 today but since theres room for it why not. If this board works well it might become my go to for all my guitars/occasions for a while. Also gonna take an amp stand and get the Carr up off the floor. Have room for a bit of extra gear today since my GD duo played yesterday instead of normal Sunday 11-2, so I won't be hauling the upright.

^ This board with the Carr and the Player II Tele with the WIlde rails fkin ruled the roost.
Dead quiet too after I got unplugged from that dang lighting circuit.
Even without extreme vol settings of the amp or the pedals I rarely got the Tele's volume to 10. The rig was loud a clear as hell.
No mud at all yet not piercing or annoying either. Cut thru even better than the old black Strat which could easily get shrill with its orig ceramics.
The Wilde L45/L48TL were the ultimate solution in a crowded jam with too many guitars!
