Dig it! Now HNOGD!! Fender Limited Edition 60th Anniversary Classic Jazzmaster - Daphne Blue

The thee way toggle doesn't seem to be working right. Won't hold in bridge position and pops back out. Hmm. Not sending it back for that but seems strange. Have to drive to Boise but will bring this guitar and explore further. I like the sounds. That TV Yellow Epiphone is going to be sold. I like this way better. My short scale guitars will be my Hagstrom and my LP knockoff, and a beater Firefly I have.
I have had some switches that won't "stay put" like that. You might be able to open up the guitar and gently bend it to get it to stay.

Seems like the switch actually does work. I think I just am a little bit confused on how to use the rhythm switch and also volume control knobs had me a little confused. But it doesn’t stay in place on the bridge position. I may have to switch out the switch. Not that big a deal.

But I do really love the look of the guitar and the basic sounds even if if I end up switching out the pick ups down the road. I definitely think I will replace or tweak the trim and the bridge.

Connected with this one right away and I think it is a keeper.

if it is wired like a standard JM...
When the rhythm circuit switch is up you are getting the neck pickup solo. the lower three way switch and vol/tone knobs are bypassed and dont do anything. the roller knobs act as tone and volume.

when the rhythm circuit switch is down then the three way switch and regular knobs act like you would expect and the roller controls of the rhythm circuit dont do anything.

the rhythm circuit has different pot/cap values and is darker than the regular circuit. I like to use mine to set a big fat rhythm tone, and then switch it down for leads or a chimier sound.

In Boise.

Thanks! Yes, I think that is how it is wired, standard JM.

Also, if you hate the rhythm circuit you can turn rhythm circuit volume all the way down with the roller knob then, you can use rhythm circuit switch as a kill switch.

That’s a common problem with offsets. You probably don’t own enough Sonic Youth LPs and the system has locked you out.

See if the switch just needs to be rotated if it's pressing up against the wall out of the route.

As far as how the controls work, it's not as complicated as some people think it is. If you ignore the rhythm circuit altogether, it's a three-way switch with volume and tone. They're two 1 meg pots.

When you flip the rhythm switch up towards you that switches it to just the neck pickup and the two rollers are a 1 meg volume and a 50K tone (which is the difference) and gives you a pre-set mellower tone even with the controls maxed.

Sometimes people like to mod the rhythm circuit to do different things, like work for both pickups or turn it into a G&L-style bass and treble control setup.

I already have too many guitars but strangely I wanted a Jazzmaster myself. Love my 3 day waiting period as it lets GAS dissipate.

Granted there were a couple of guitars that I could not do that for as I was looking for those for a long, long time. When that deal comes, it is hard to follow the 3 day rule.

Yeah, the switch does not work consistently. Will try to pull it apart and see if I can make it work. But if I want to wire a better switch in there, which replacement brand is the one to get? Also, seems like the volume pots work a little weird in that if you roll off the volume, even in "lead" mode, the pickups lose quite a bit of top end not very far back into the taper off full. Like it can seem like the rhythm setting has more bite. Hmm.

Overall, I do really like the sound and will want to keep this. just will tweak it.

I'd say that you way exceeded the three day period considering you were "looking for those for a long, long time". LOL

It's funny, but I've been messing with my volume control a lot more the past couple years and I've found that what I have the guitar running into affects how much treble I lose rolling the volume off. I haven't really dug deep into it, but I think it's related to the impedance stuff that affects how a Fuzz Face cleans up when you roll the volume off on the guitar.

Hmm. Interesting. I will just keep playing with it as I mess with stuff. Not thinking I will do a bunch of new parts or anything for a while, presuming I can get the 3 way toggle to work correctly. But no time to mess with it before a week and a half vacation, so it will have to wait.

I may have exceeded the 3 days but I don't want or need one. It usually takes up to 48 and bam, no more GAS.

It was like a fart in the wind

Worse comes to worse you could always put a treble bleed on the volume. I did that on a couple of my Jags since the circuit for the strangle switch adds a bit more to that darkness since there's an additional resistor in there messing with impedance.
