Kindle Direct Publishing

I haven’t but a guy I know published a few books to Amazon this way about 4-5 years ago. Seemed pretty easy to do. He never did any marketing and can’t figure out why his books don’t sell.

I have used them for a number of projects, both digital and print. They even recently began a hardback book option at an affordable price. I am not getting rich, but my book on Medication Assisted Treatment continues to sell a few copies a month. One month there was an order for 100+ copies at once.

Good info.

I’m not looking to get rich - thinking of public domain/free download/no drm.

I just want an easy distribution link I can send out to friends/family/social media channels. I’d prefer not to dump my own money into it and I definitely don’t want any liability.

Anyone used this service to self-publish an ebook?

A quick look says it’s free, easy, and effective. Talk me out of using it.
Colouroffire will tell you that Jeff Bezos owns Kindle and by doing business with Jeff you might as well sell your soul to the devil and also Jeff will use the money to fund his next super yacht.

I make about $4.00 per paperback and $2.00 per Kindle book on average. It depends on the number of pages and the selling price I set. I keep my books in the $12 range for paperback and $2.99 for Kindle. I do all of the work setting the book up and use their cover creator. I do not have to pay any fee to set up the book. It really is a great option for self-publishing. When my Positive Path Recovery book was picked up by a text book publisher, the selling price was increased by $40 and I made less royalties...

It's the number one way to make a living writing about being pounded in the butt by brontosauruses, so that's something.

Thanks for doing the typing for me :embarrassed:

Joking aside, this actually looks like a good and fair service.

My first book was published by Book Surge. Amazon took them over and I think it was just called Amazon Print on Demand, that became Kindle Direct. The quality has remained the same.
