Every time we visit back home I'm amazed that everything is chain Restaurants and that I can't name a single German chain that isn't fast food.

same here, except it's western Pa. (almost Youngstown). there used to be a bunch of Ma & Pa Italian eaterys, now they're all gone and there's just chain crap. Michigan seems like it's the last place to get anything. We finally got a Chick-Fil-A over a year ago. Still no Waffles Houses, almost no White Castles, no Roy Rogers, no In and Out burgers, no Whataburger...![]()

I recently realized that Red Lobster will never die because in many places the only fresh seafood is a lobster from the tank at Red Lobster.
