Question: Supro Blues King 12, anyone try or have one?

This looks like a interesting amp, just wondering if anyone here has tried one?
Supro Blues King 12 combo 15 watts, 12" speaker, spring reverb with a fet type gain and boot made in China $599.

Thoughts?

Saw the press release but haven't seen the amp in action. I had wondered if they had too many eggs in the retro-spec, "old-man rock" basket.

Their dealers have a lot of stock that's been around for a while. Zzsounds sent an email last night and they were blowing out a few models.

Yeah they are made in China (hence the price point) vs other Supro amp line amps being made elsewhere but assembled in NY. I have a 1690T and a 1605R that are total keepers, I was hoping someone here has played through one of these amps.

I loved the Black Magic I tried.

I know when they discontinued the Tremo-Verb, GC bought the all the leftover inventory just to use for a Black Friday blowout.

I've been looking at them for a while. When you look at who has what, it sure seems like theres a lot of old models hanging around at many of their dealers. I'm not sure why, they sound great.

The Tremo-Verb was a failure from the getgo due due to the low availability of the power tubes.

Plenty of Russian 6973-equivalents out there that can handle the Supro voltages.

They offered too many variants, the only real demand for old '60s models was for the (overrated) Thunderbolt, 1624T, and (underrated) Royal Reverb. But when they offer the 1624T, the Led Zep Supro, who wants a higher headroom model with reverb and a smaller speaker? Plus, they really should have rolled one of the 5-watt and one of the 12-watt '50s models, instead they differed that business to Vintage 47.

I wish there was an an easier to understand, more consistent naming system.

I don't remember which one I played through but as soon as I got into where the sweet spot would be it ended up really mushy sounding. It was fine up until then if you wanted a totally clean pedal platform I guess. Wish I remember which one it was but it was so loose that I'm kind of soured on them.

Actually no.

I haven’t been there to n a bit. I haven’t been there in a while. I tried to buy strings there a few times, but they don’t carry D’Adarrio’s and they have a very limited selection of Ernie Ball. I don’t understand what they are doing over there. Their selection is poor, and what they do have is way too pricey for this market imo. They do have a nice high end pedal selection.

They seem to specialize in servicing guitars for folks that have more money than sense. Last time I was there a guy brought in a 10 top PRS for a STRING CHANGE  and his ES-335 for a truss rod adjustment. I was floored.
