(I couldn't find the Fashion Gripes subforum, so I'm posting here instead)

This is probably from spending too much time around young people (college undergrads), but goddamn - why are tapered sweat pants a thing? You're still wearing sweat pants, you slobs.

Those are called jogger pants or just "joggers" for short yabba, they're intended as a fashion statement and not as "just a slob" or some dude going running.

I believe this is like the third year they been in style now

it seems like tjust yesterday these kidz were walking around holding their pants up because they kept falling down and nowadays they need to butter themselves in order to slip into their skinny joggers. I myself just can't figure it out

Hell, my oldest used to sag his skinny jeans. Dumbass could barely walk in them. It was like you put on a pair of pants 5 sizes too small and barely can pull them up above your balls.

I drive past a large high school on my commute and, no fooling, most of what kids wear are these structured sweats or the black tights/leggings as pants. Best outfit I saw yesterday was a girl in sweats, a sports bra, and a knit winter cap/beanie.

My friend's girlfriend's kid is a senior in high school and his fashion choices drive my friend and his gf bonkers. I don't see the issue. If you're young and don't have any real responsibilities, dress how you want before your body gets weird and your balls get so swollen that you can only wear cargo shorts and crocs.
 
The last time I wore anything remotely related to sweatpants in public was in 8th grade. They were Adidas pants that weren't traditional sweatpants material, but had the three stripes going down the outside seam of each leg. It is also the last time I let anyone's comments about my attire affect how I dress. That said, it has stuck and unless you're actually working out or exercising I don't get why you'd wear anytime of active/exercise wear in public. This goes for both genders.

Growing up in and about Westchester county in the '80s saw a lot of self-described guidos (super proud folks of Italian heritage) sporting nylon sweat-wear as everyday attire, part of what affirmed my notion of it not being something I would wear unless exercising or in the privacy of my home.

That said, this is only about me and until this thread I hadn't thought about since...well honestly Tuesday when a student was wearing camo tapered sweats with a v-neck tee...it was horrible.

There is NOTHING WRONG with crocs :mad:
 
I like joggers. I don't wear them everywhere, but I do wear them in quasi-exercise situations. They actually fit me better than most regular sweatpants.

Some of you guys sound like grumpy old geezers.

I just thought it was guys wearing women's pants. Seriously, I find them extremely feminine and the men had them on also look feminine. Didn't know these were men actually trying to be manly and wear what appears to be women's clothes. The only person to pull it off was M. C. Hammer and it was his dance thing.
