NGD!!!

I bought it online (reverb)from a store in NY. Who knows where it has been before that!! All I really know is that it is a 2004 model MIM. I had assumed that it was stock up until now. But I've never heard of a stock brass block...??

Yeah, that is what I meant. The brass block. I know GFS (guitarfetish) sells them for MIM strats. I bought a steel one from them to put in my kid's strat knockoff to improve sustain. I saw the brass ones after I ordered, they were an extra buck. I kinda wished I had ordered the brass one. Not sure why, but just because. Cool it is in there.
 
I went back and forth about whether I wanted an HSS or SSS but since I'm a rock player and because the strat "magic" lies in the middle and neck pickups I figured I'd get the best of both worlds with the HSS setup.
 
I had another thought for you on history. Prior to 2006, the MIM strats had small trem blocks. In 2006, the MIM standards got improved trem blocks/bridges. Since yours is a 2004, obviously the previous owner upgraded it. That is a nice little upgrade too.
 
Thanks for the history!! I plugged it in for a little while yesterday and it is actually a pretty thick sounding guitar...even with he stock pups. I'm not sure what fender uses for pups but these sounded good....as of right now I'm not thinking of changing them at all.

No reason to, I would think. Unless you wanted something different. I have the stock ones in my SSS MIM and like them fine.
 
I ordered some noiseless springs and a brass Trem block...for now that's all the modding I'm gonna do. Maybe down the road I'll start thinking i need something else but for now.....
