Floyd Rose Trems are Awful

Kelly

24 Steel Wheels of Shoegaze
Floyd Rose should be tried for crimes against humanity and all of the tremolos melted down and forged into cheap pot-metal blocks for indonesian stratocasters.

I had an ibanez years ago with an Edge III, but lately i've been getting back into the wheedlies on my (hardtail) Schecter and I've been looking for something similar on the cheap. It seems that you can't find anything decent without a floyd for less than 300.

yea......300 is probably the break over point.....unless you can find a used guitar with a floyd.

I can't abide even a Strat trem and always blocked it, much less a super complicated Floydian monstrosity.
Bigsbys are just barely tolerable but only if they are set up right.
I've never really played the Jazzmaster type.
No trem is best for me.

Like any vibrato, the problem with cheap Floyds is shitty metal. An Original Ibanez Edge or Gotoh Floyd is a thing of beauty to behold. The cheap shit that comes on MusicYo Kramers and their ilk is cheap shit.

If you're looking for a cheap hardtail shredder, check out the Ibanez RG_EX_ series. They were made for GC and have absolutely no resale value.

I've got a fake Floyd I've been using for a decade and works fine for me. It's not that difficult really but there are rules to follow.

I hate hardtail strats but i also hate the tremolo, so my strat has a full-size steel block, 5 springs, and is screwed against the body.

I like FR trems.

Honestly, I don't think I have ever had any of the issues some people seem to have with them.......
I get it where I want it set, then I pretty much leave it alone. There's a bit of a learning curve if you're unfamiliar with them, but it's not THAT hard to do......

Not sure where all the hate comes from, to be honest........but to each their own.

A quality, correctly set up Floyd will. Not. Go. Out. Of. Tune. The problems are the cheapo versions mixed with improper setup.
Yes. except that it's still an unholy abomination in the eyes of god.
