It's not a lot of fun following you, Mark, but here it goes:

Peavey T-15. Without a doubt, the hottest Single Coils I've ever played.

This is an Eastwood Guyatone, Peavey T-60, and Eastwood Sidejack:

I didn't know those were single coils! They are HUGE....

What are the Eastwoods like?

Here is my little "studio". Its not too impressive, but my goal was to have a set up in my apartment that i could have fun with, was easy to use without a lot of set up time. Being divorced and paying lots of child support, i had to be frugal. All told, not counting the Ovation Balladeer, which belongs to my lovely GF, i have a little over $1400 in this whole setup. At the heart is a behringer PA, in which goes a Korg bass effects, V-amp, Alesis drum machine, CD player. I have a Tascam DP-01 recorder, SM-57, and various other stuff, including the good ol' MicroCube.

Anyhow, for those without much cash take heart, i accumulated this over a couple years patiently watching ebay, or musicians freind for dent n ding stuff. Its not high quality, but its fun, and flexible, and easy to use.

I have been in this apartment here in murrieta for six years. What you see is basically the whole living room, there isnt a TV or couch in it, all just music stuff. hahahaha.

The Squier '51 is normally my go-to guitar. I love the bucker, it really is better than one would think, and having a single coil at the neck is always nice, although its a less impressive pickup. But the neck on mine is just lovely, and doesn't have the saw tooth fret ends as i have heard some complain about.

The tele is an SX from balsa wood and spit music. I love the neck on it as well. When they say jumbo frets, they arent kidding, they are like bass guitar frets, so a light touch is useful during chording. The pickups are pretty lousy however, im thinking of getting some guitar fetish ones to swap out. The nut needed some work, i sanded the grooves and used a little pencil shavings in them and now it tunes wonderfully.

As i said, these are all cheapies, but i have fun with them. If i ever get the money id like a MIM fat strat.

I'll have to take a closer look at a '51...they really look like fun...

A 2001 PRS SC, made by their artist relations team for metal guitarist Jack Frost and used on tour for several years. Its mine now, well broken in, and tons of mojo.

You guys are making me jealous! I'm stuck with a Fender Squire and this...

That's not me posting the video, but I have the same guitar. My Dad picked up at Target for 50 bucks...It was on some major clearance...It's not much, but hey, can't argue with $50. I'll get a picture of my Squire and the Lyon eventually...too lazy to do it right now ;D

Hi Jake,

You're killing your guitar's mojo! It's a Squier ... now it will play better. ;D

I really suck at photographing guitars but here are two Epiphones I've bought in the last twelve months:

An Epiphone Super Dot:.

The flame finish which doesn't show up too well above is just so beautiful:

This is the Epi LP Ultra I got in October last year:

The Ultra is chambered and is about 5lbs lighter than a normal LP.

(Yes ... I know I'm behind in my yardwork! ;D )

I have a student who has a regular Epiphone and it is a pretty cool guitar...I might end up looking for something I can play Jazz on that fits in my budget and this is intriguing...what makes it a "Super Dot"?

Have you compared it to a regular Gibson Les Paul Standard? What does it sound most like with the chambering?

Super Dot is a Limited Edition. The only differences are the flame finish and the rectangular fretboard inlays rather than the standard dots.

I'm not sure you'll find one new anymore. I bought it last month new from the local Epi dealer but its serial number indicates it was made in 2006.

Now you're asking difficult questions as I'm just a beginner - luckily as a retired 'old fart' I can indulge some of my GAS attacks!

So no, I haven't done the comparison. Reviews on the chambering say it gives the guitar a more 'bluesy' sound that is different to the average Les Paul.

I remember reading somewhere that Gibson is chambering a lot of their LPs now but I don't know if that is true or not.

Hmm....I was thinking there would be more than a cosmetic difference....

They are chambering pretty much everything...this is what most Les Pauls look like inside these days:

It kind of makes me sad that you can't get a solid guitar from them anymore...there is a big difference in tone...

After re-reading this the next day, I just wanted to assure you, Jake, that I meant no offence by this post - it was meant to be humour but I realise now it may not read that way.

Regards,
Ron

Don't worry about it bro. Did you see my post? The most expensive electric i have i think was the Ibanez, it was a "Stupid Deal of the Day" for about $140. The Silvertone les paul looking thing was $30 bucks delivered from M123 clearance! If you take the time to set up a guitar well, set the intonation, maybe work on the nut a bit, put some good strings on it, it will serve you plenty well. Hours of fun for sure.
