Winter beverages anyone??

This one is an old favorite. What are you enjoying?

I have a recent spoiled-person problem: I cannot enjoy packaged beer anywhere near as much as fresh. Given that I live less than 5 miles from three outstanding/GABF-approved places, you'd think it's not much of a problem (and it isn't), but I miss simply opening a can of something good, pouring it into a pint glass, and enjoying it around the house.

Is anyone else finding their palettes getting ... kinda ....snotty? I didn't plan it this way.

this is off-topic and also privileged-person whining, but can hazy/NE style IPAs 15 minutes be over? bleh. I hate thinking "oh, there's an interesting looking IPA I haven't tried, and having to google it in case it's a bullshit hazy one that doesn't actually advertise that on the label.

Around these parts we go outside and hang around drinking glühwein. It is also a decent time of year for Christmas beers and schnapps.

I’m over IPAs in general. Stone IPA is all I need. I want more craft stouts and lagers.

Bought some of this the other day from the local Kalamazoo coffee shop(s), Water Street Coffee.

I've had their mocha del sol in it's coffee/espresso/cappucino form and I like it, not bad, has a spicy kick to it but not that hot.

This hot cocoa is HOT !!! As in, did they use ghost peppers, or what?

I'll have to add some Hershey's syrup next time I make it, or maybe Ghiardhelli's cocoa or something, to try and cut down on the heat.

Sometimes. But I enjoy nicely canned stuff. And I have more than one growler.

@yabba , regarding the NE hazys, yeah, they are prolific. But fortunately, I like hops, particularly Citra, Amarillo, Centennial, and others that tend to get used, and really like fresh hops. So I am enjoying this style's period of popularity.

Our local place has a "No Friends on a Fresh Hop Day" Citra hazy I very much enjoy. The name is a play on the saying that there

Had a nitro "Out Cold" Winter Ale last night at the local brewery. Only 6.5% and a nice taste. I don't generally need/enjoy an Imperial level of alcohol content. Except once in a while, something like Deschutes Abyss (not holiday specific) to sip a small serving of as a dessert.

And sorry, I am not a lager fan. It doesn't always have to be a big hoppy ale, but I prefer ale yeast in general, regardless of ale style.

I think I will have one or two of these tonight. I like Sierra Nevada and always enjoy their Celebration ale.

In general, a canned beer is always going to taste fresher than a bottled beer.

Also, I love IPAs, but that's pretty strictly a warm-weather thing for me.

I live in a small town and we have one of those small beer making places opening soon. My oldest is all into his brews but but for me every time he introduces me to on of his special finds it's seems to me that it's always flat tasting. I like a crisp tasting beer. Perhaps it's because I'm not getting them as soon as it's ready for drinking and has been bottled.

I know it's possible for small places to make good beer because when I lived in Belgium for a year they were all over the place and I was carried out of many of them.

I'm about to crack open some prosecco but I drink that all year round.

I did buy some single malt and Irish cream for drinking over the holidays and my wife has no doubt got 3 or 4 fancy gins lying in a cupboard.

The great irony is that reading this thread has given me a hankering for a cold, cheap lager but there's none in the house and everywhere is closed

Oh well, managed 6 weeks off the bevy, found a centennial wet hop homebrew I made end of september in my celllar so cracked it open last night
