Larrivee D-03R (obviously, a rosewood/Sitka dreadnaught), bought new from Notable Guitars 2008; excellent condition (honest: no defects, scratches, cracks), with original case, truss rod tool, pamphlet, even the rosewood aroma and pick. Original Tusq saddle (included) was replaced with bone saddle by Jason prior to delivery. Never gigged. Always kept in non-smoking, humidity-controlled (40-48%) house. Don’t think I’ve even played it outdoors.

I really love this guitar. Sound is clear and very full: to my unsophisticated ear it is a ‘piano-like’ crisp and shimmery, not ‘boomy’, tone. Sounds great even with old strings (d’Addario phosphor/bronze lights). If you’ve heard a good D-03R you know what I mean.

Playability is excellent; set up by Jason and hasn’t needed any adjustment. Have been physically unable to play for a couple of years (have a small $29 Americana for messing) so, am bending to reality. Price: $700, plus shipping. No trades, no negotiation; thanks. Will accept personal or bank check. You will be pleased with this guitar.

Larrivee makes the best acoustics I've ever played. I can't afford one and wasn't smart enough to grab one when I could. While this seems like a lovely instrument, I'm a cutaway type of guy (electronics not really necessary though). As such, I'd have to pass even were I in the market. Good luck with the sale.

Nice! I was looking at one of those when I was shopping for my acoustic a few years back. The shop that sold them closed before I bought and I ended up with a different guitar, but I really liked those.

PS, Someone needs to hop on this right NOW for $700.00!!

I don't want to sound a berk, but what is fair price for this..... I see them all over the board: $1k, down to about where I am; figured be at the low end and move it fast. should I fairly expect more?

Well I am no expert on their pricing, but that is a nice guitar, and I think you are asking a good, fair price. I think part of my point is that if it said Martin on it you might expect to bet more on the used market. I was looking for a nice rosewood/spruce sound that was reminiscent of a D-45 such as Neil Young's when I was shopping. The Larrivee had enough of that sound to satisfy me, and had its own thing going as well. A sound I really enjoyed.

As far as price, I think yours is a good deal intended to move it, based on what you said about prices, and the first one I popped up, A D-03 (it does not day"R" so is maybe the mahogany one) for $800 shipped, from reverb. http://reverb.com/item/6498-jean-la...m_source=SEM&gclid=CO_5trrNqLsCFY17fgodJlgAhg And here is a used one at Guitar Center for $799.00. http://www.guitarcenter.com/In-Store-Used-USED-LARRIVEE-D03-LH-DREADNOUGHT-ACOUS-108691519-i2994015.gc?source=4WWRWXGP&gclid=CMDy0PTUqLsCFUGTfgodjTkAaw&kwid=productads-plaid^18283950120-sku^108691519@ADL1U@ADL4GC-adType^PLA-device^c-adid^27490280802
Based to me, it seems like you are in there at a good, fair price on the low end of the spectrum, (i.e., priced to move). If I was in the market, I would jump at it. Just my opinion though. Others may know more about the market for that guitar. @Kerouac ?

Thanks. I don't mind selling at the low end of the spectrum (more likely to find real buyers)- I was worried that I might have been way under the accepted range. Agree about the Martin premium. I looked at some Martins (various models), too, when I bought the Larrivee- not to get into an argument, but I thought the D-03R had a mo' better sound and superior fitment and finish (I think the D-28 was the one that was most recommended but not sure- whatever the rosewood/spruce model).

$700 is a good price on that. I certainly wouldn't go any lower (unless you'll take some cash and a trade...) as it will hold it's value pretty well. They're not as sought after as a Martin or Taylor, so that's a good price range to get someone to jump at. You might be able to get a bit more out of it in the $750-800 range, but be prepared for it to sit for longer.

OK: this looks like the 'sweet spot'- and hopefully the buyer will think so too. thanks, all for the advice. spread the word to your acoustically-minded friends.

OK! Sold for a premium over this price to a local via craigslist! No hassle; the guy called, looked at it for about 45 seconds and paid..... that was easy.

Thanks for giving us a crack at it.
I really wanted to do it but it just came at the wrong time for me. I've wanted a Larrivee
for ages.

...and thank you all for the enthusiasm and support. believe it or not, this is the first guitar I have ever sold (had one stolen, lost one somehow and gave one away in the past) and, though I've sold other items (car parts, kid stuff) online, wasn't sure what to expect. a few tire-kickers, one ridiculous low-baller (craigslist, of course..."I'll give you $500 cash...") and one 'righteous indignation' dude (...I don't like your terms...") who, after I explained why I listed it as I did and invited him to phone me, discussed on another forum where it listed my apparent lack of principle over not allowing him to set the parameters of the deal.

And, a peculiar guy who went by 'Oscar J', wanted to test it for 30 days, decide what it was worth, and pay that amount.

in the end, happy for the guy who bought it (to supplement his only acoustic- a '52 Gibson!), good price, no hassle.
