Tube amps for the bedroom?

Yeah, I realise it's not all about the case. But I skipped Yavin's Champ... it would get rather pricey, what with shipping, and possibly customs and stuff. I'll check out the new Fenders and Voxes whenever I get the chance to :thu:

Cheers Woody :)

I've got a Champ 600 that I love - play it through a 1 X 12 when I want a bit more oomph. But for a practice amp, it's great. I'm surprised no one mentioned it yet, but if you already have a tube amp, you might consider using an attenuator. Before anyone starts raking me over the coals about attenuators being tone suckers, the new generation of attenuators are incredibly transparent, and the best one on the market IMO is the Aracom PRX150-Pro.

Here's a link to an excerpt of a song I'm working on: http://guitargear.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/ftk.mp3. I recorded both my 18Watt (rhythm) and 22Watt amps (lead) at conversation levels. Both Joe Satriani and Doug Doppler purchased this, and Doug is using it to record his clips for his upcoming DVD "Get Killer Tone." This unit has been a godsend for me as my "studio" is my garage, and keeping my neighbors and family happy has been easy since I got it. :)

i get kinda corksniffy when it comes to pedals. the thing about champs is that the highs can get a bit harsh. it's the 8" speaker. so my favorite distortion to use with it is my MI Audio Tube Zone. the damn pedal cost me more than the amp did! but it sounds awesome. if i were going it on the cheap, i'd get a dano EQ pedal and run it in front of whatever dirt. (i should probably do that anyway.)
It's a 6" speaker. :) For working out stuff, it works great. But the secret of this amp is running it into a bigger speaker. I run it into a 1 X 12, and that amp has enough oomph to gig small or low-volume venues like a worship service. Now, one thing that I've done is swap out the tubes with NOS tubes - no other modifications needed IMO. It's incredibly pedal friendly as well, so to me, at $149 it's a steal for what it brings to the table!

my SF Vibro Champs have an 8" speaker. your Champion 600 has a 6" speaker.

i paid $150 for the Bronco, $200 for the VC. they're both the same exact amp, just a different name.

I thought you wanted the 15 Watter? :) Isn't the Little Giant a 5 Watt amp? Personally, I dug the BH5112 combo.

The 5 watter is plenty loud for my office...I'm actually going to drag it in back for some classes in about 10 minutes and see if it can keep up...
