so, tomorrow I start a 16-day stretch at work.
boss folks are off to Vegas.
not that I look forward to the work, but the cash will be nice.
at least they changed the hours, so each day is only a regular 8hr shift, instead of 12.

I just finished up a 12 day stretch at my job...inventory...so I feel ya man...

I'm lucky in that, for the most part, I won't be doing much.
selling cases of beer, and the odd bit of cleaning.
so, mostly 8hrs a day sitting on my ass watching tv.
of course, the day after they get back, we have to take the ceiling down in the bar, as the new duct work goes in two days after they return.
so, in reality, it'll probably be an 18 day stretch.
but 16 of those will be pretty mellow.

Well that was disappointing. I went to the local Sam Ash tonight because they had a used bass I was interested in. I got there and I tried the Carvin I went in there for. It was one of the older maple Carvins. It weighed about 12 pounds. That's just too heavy for me. And it really didn't play any better then my '85 Ibanez. So I tried some other basses while I was there. Every single bass had sharp fret edges. It didn't seem to matter how expensive the bass was. New or used. They all sucked. It seems the the winter has been hard on their inventory. I ended up not buying anything. I'm not about to buy a new bass that needs a fret level. But I did end up selling the two guitars that I was planning to trade in. I got almost as much as I paid for them. So I can't complain.

My house is really dry. Hamer Tele was fine when I got it. 1 week later, frets sticking out.

The weird thing is why aren't all the guitars like that? Only other one here is the Peavey Strat.

Bound necks rarely have fret pop, and necks with a heavy finish have very little...I could use the neck on my parts strat as a saw right now, and it has a very light coat of wiping poly for a finish...

From mom today:
I hate cooking pancakes later in the morning. The neighbors are all using power and my electric griddle won't get as hot because they're using up all the current.

:bert:

The only guitar I've ever had this with is my Reverend. I didn't even know about it until I started reading the internet.

I've never had that happen, that I can recall...
and I've owned a LOT of cheap-ass guitars.

I did buy one that was like that, but it wasn't severe, and never really bothered me.
it was just enough that a person might notice.
but not enough to cut a motherfucker.

I'm surprised my gigging bass still has frets
or a neck
or ...

etc

I mean, I threw the damn thing thru the bass drum once.
that sparked an interesting after-gig chat with the drummer.
who out-weighs me by a good 100lbs.

I iz smrt.
