anyways, managed to get some winterinzing of the house done yesterday, despite drinking a couple gallons of beer.
it's much warmer in here now, and dont' have the thermostat cranked either, saving cash

more or less finished up my parts for one of the RecFest tunes as well.
so all in all, it was actually a productive day.
kinda surprising.

fisnished the night off by watching most of the newest Percy Jackson flick (fell asleep before the end)
what I did manage to watch was pretty damn good.

So I was wondering why the gain dropped off the map when I put the 5751 preamp tube in the Special 6. It definitely has less than a 12AX7 but it was kinda ridiculous. It was clean all the way up.
I pulled the tube. :facepalm: 12AU7.
Now the 5751 is there and it's good.
This amp is the best money I ever spent on gear. It flipping rocks. Cranked up on the boost side, it's kickin.
 
And the volume came way back up, too. Can't wait to jam with Foo and the boys again to see how it does with the correct tube in there.
 
plumber guy never showed up.
so we've been without hot water for, what...about a week?
heating water on the stove for a sponge bath is the shits.
