There seem to be a lot more women in medical offices than in the past. Many of them are PA’s rather than doctors. I like the job they do better than a lot of male doctors I’ve had in the past.

This is going to be an over share with TMI, but I don’t care. I go to an urology, medical office, because I’m prone to kidney stones. Most of the staff, doctors, PA’s, even front desk are women. I like it.

Look, if I’m going to have my balls fondled, or fingers shoved up my ass to feel my prostate, I’d rather it be done by a woman. On some days, it’s the only action I get. :embarrassed:

My late wife and I had the same doctor for 20 years She was a young black doctor in Richmond, Va and just fantastic. She had 3 kids like us and was never rushed when helping us. Had to give her up when I switched to the VA. Never had a doctor before her that seemed like a close family friend and always remembered what our kids names were and what they were involved it even though she never met them.

Female doctors and PA’s are more nurturing IME.

My primary care is a nurse practitioner and she is more on the ball than any of the doctors I have seen in that practice. When I go to see her she is up to date on what is happening in my care from all the various doctors treating me. She also talks to me like a fellow professional. Carol used to be concerned that I wasn't being seen by a "doctor" until she sat in on a couple of appointments; she came away impressed.

Our doctor retired 3 years ago. Mrs. T was his nurse the last 12 years of his career and our families have become close friends. We occasionally go out to eat together and exchange birthday gifts. He was a popular family doctor that had an old style appeal mixed with up to date knowledge and treatments.

I have a good NP at the VA now. Same for 4 years. I really appreciate her. Seeing her in 2 weeks.

I use the clinic in Fredericksburg and McGuires in Richmond, Va. Had a surgery, and other procedures. When my iron gets high I go there for phlebotomies. I have my sleep doctor there too. I get overwhelmed by the kindness and consideration I have been shown.

My brother is a Vietnam vet. He had a prostate surgery and a hip and knee replacement there and same thing. Nothing but good things to say about his care.

I also have a brother who goes to the VA in Pittsburg. When I visit and we talk about our aches and pains he’s also had and received good care at the VA.
 
My primary care doc works out of a van in an alley off of U St. No website, just word of mouth only. The facility kinda sucks, but the price is right. Sometimes I leave with more viral infections than I had before I went it, win/win!

Do you have hemochromatosis? Years back I worked at the Stanford Blood Center in California and we used to do therapeutic phlebotomies for folks with that. Have you ever set off a magnetometer?

U St in the early 90s...that place was something.

Yes. It was caught almost 20 years ago by accident. My levels were not crazy high, per the doctor at the time.
