Summer Camping jam

1family is going on a camping adventure this weekend. 5 yr old has been camping before but it'll be the 2 yr old's first time.

I spent the evening loading up the family truckster with a tent and a Grumman canoe and fishing rods and a propane stove and marshmallows and sleeping bags and whatnot. Then after work tomorrow we're heading up to a piney state forest with a cold, cold lake.

I haven't been there in about 30 years. It was a family favorite when I was growing up so I hope 2kids like it. Car camping, but in a pretty remote part of the state.

So anywho I thought we should have a thread about getting out there, cooling out in the mountains, and grabbing summer by teh solstice.

You’ve waited 30 years? Wait 6 more so the kids will enjoy it, remember it, and the parents will get 10 minutes to enjoy.

Enjoy. It's gotten too hot and humid to go camping here now. Maybe we'll go again in Sept or so, but we went to Rocky Gap in June and everyone had a great time...especially the pups.

My dad got one of those Mercedes camper vans to ease into retirement, so now my whole family is too spoiled to use a tent anymore. I'd like us to toughen up, but I also love sleeping in the van.

It's not camping. We rented a 30 foot rv at Pismo Coast Village for five nights next week. It's located in Pismo Beach California. You can set up a tent as long as its put away by 9 a.m.

Thanks for posting that. I started to buy two of these until I noticed the weight limit.

The travelchair joey is rated for #300 and is still fairly reasonably priced. IIRC REI has a similar offering. One of those might be the ticket for you

Welp we had a nice weekend. No rain. 80s during the day and 50s at night, which is kinda miraculous this time of year. The lake was even colder than I remember. My folks came for a visit. The lake is where my dad used to lifeguard in about 1972.

Kids were happy so everyone was happy. Had possibly the best milkshake of my life, served by a Menonite gal out of a shed.

Today was a lot of catch-up. Tried to cram a weekend worth of chores into about 6 hours.

It was really fun but now I'm tired.

Only been once this summer, friends were visiting with small children so we just went to loch lomond. Usually go camping a few times a year.

the trusty north face mountain 24, now 25 years old and still in good nick. Countless camping trips over the years in this thing
