I was cleaning out a closet full of my wife’s stuff and found these strange looking wireless headphones. Once I realized the charging connection was lightning, I figured out that they were AirPods Max headphones manufactured between 2020-2024. My wife doesn’t recall when she bought them, although she did remember using them once on an airplane flight.
I would not spend $500 on a set of headphones. Never mind, using them once, tossing them in a closet, and forgetting about them.
They’re a bit heavy, but they sound great. The bass detail, in particular, is amazing, especially when listening to music.
I found Apple Headphone Accommodation in settings on my iPhone and moved it to Moderate, which gives a midrange boost to voices. This is perfect for watching TV via Roku late at night.
I bought a Creative BT-W4 Bluetooth transmitter ($35 @ Walmart) for my Linux PC setup in the basement, so that I can use the headphones while watching videos on my projection screen setup. Luckily, VLC Media Player has sync adjustment for audio/video. I added EasyEffects EQ to Linux and Chat GPT helped me dial in the EQ to match what Apple Headphone Accommodation does with the Moderate setting.
I can watch videos, including loud rock music (Ex: Back To The Beginning) late at night. Now, I never have to leave my basement.
