RIP Chick Corea

Wow. Didn't see that coming. I LOVED his duets with Gary Burton. Super talented guy and if I remember correctly he had more Grammy's than anyone except Quincy.

RIP

Yeah, he was a giant...especially as a jazz pianist in the post popular jazz era.

Not that Grammys are the measure of art, but 23 highlights the impact on his era of jazz.

Had a couple of his albums (weather report) back in the 70s, but hadn't listened to much of that ilk lately. I was actually introduced to his music by an older chap who was also a scientologist and tried to get me hooked into that garbage. I think my parents (that was when I was in high school) were getting letters from them addressed to me until their deaths this year...

He wasn’t a member of Weather Report. Joe Zawinul played keys for WP. You’re likely thinking of Return to Forever.

This is sad news. RIP Chick.

I had a phase in the 80s when I was really into that genre. Chick Corea along with folks like Al DiMeola, Stanley Clark, Jean-Luc Ponty, etc. I should go dig out some of those old records and give them another spin.
