Are you kidding? Nothing beats red beans and rice - if you're talking about the traditional creole (not cajun) dish. Popeye's version is actually from a recipe by a famous New Orleans chef, and pretty decent.

I love both - but given a choice black beans win. In fact - I am having black beans and rice for lunch (I make my own cooked black beans from scratch and freeze them).

And yes - Popeye's red beans and rice are quite tasty.
